Every Mile of Tough Mudder - All Revealed
ITS ALL IN WHAT YOU WANT AND YOU TAKE OUT OF THE MUDDER! USE IT USEFULLY, POWERFULLY and MOST OF ALL... HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!
First of all, WOW! What yet another amazing, empowering mud run accomplished! 2nd Mud Run of the Season DONE! Today, April 9, 2011, I finished the 11 miles, 25 obstacles that Tough Mudder put on for us today at 13:13 fueled on Simple Fuel too!!
Running and Mud Runs have become therapeutic for me. It's been a way to tear out layers of hurt and create new layers of growth.. Spiritually, Mud Runs and Trail Runs are now a part of my personal and professional growth... The Mud/Ground represents all those that push, hurt, pull, drag me down... I just trample over it now and push on...No time in my life to be in disarray... The nature of the trail run are the trees and the living growth that surrounds that I will feed and live on that strengthens me during the run... The sounds of the streams are the sounds of zen, purity and the cleanse I need to keep pushing.... The rocks and obstacles are walls and barriers I still need to overcome...
Each obstacle I do in these runs or where I see a challenge I made a mind written list and I mentally document what do I need to change, what do I need to overcome, what do I need to let go, what do I want in the future... There is also a part of reflection of happiness and memories I want to remember in my life, so I make that a part of my mental course in the mud run...
These runs are more mental that physical...The physical plays a huge part, but mentally you have to be tougher... At not one point was I dying and out of breath...I had to stop for a few moments from time to time, but not more than a minute! I pushed my mental capacity further than my physical... I knew I would finish and didn't care about the time... It was more important to be sure I reflected on every mental obstacle I had in my head before I finished the mud run! I MADE SURE OF IT!
So here are my dedications to each of my 11 miles today:
MILE 1 - FOR MY KIDS (Kahlee and Kurtis) AND HUSBAND (Kevin)... YOU ALWAYS COME FIRST AND ALWAYS WILL... Never a passing day in my life do I forget you while I am obsorbed in my company and life's activities... Down the slope, up the slope I went.. Our lives will always be a roller coaster and I love roller coasters! Hold On as we are going on another ride and its going to be the best one ever! LOVE YOU!!
Mile 2 - Dedicated to my fellow US soldiers, Mudders, Friends and Family far and near.... Without you none of these people none of this would have been possible! Dedicated it to my friend Kristen who I really wanted by my side and I ran this with her in my thoughts the whole race... I dedicated 'Kiss of Mudd' to her too ;) I lost my bib numbers on this obstacle... I also dedicated run to the the organizations that mean so much to me like North Penn Boys and Girls Club, Operation Gratitude, Wounded Warriors, American Diabetes Association, Feingold Association.
Mile 3 & 4- I just finished Warrior Dash! LOL! JK... The sign said I did, so it was funny! This is where cool runnings came into play... Where I was able to reflect on mother nature, simplicity, how to be more ecofriendly than I already am... How to be more nurturing to those that surround me... How to love more than I already do.... Gratifying... THIS WAS THE PURE CLEANSING STAGE OF THE RACE...
Mile 5 - Handfuls! The question was for me: How to stop doing more than a handful of things at a time... How can I make things in my life easier... What can wait and what cannot... ORGANIZATION AND BALANCE in my life was the focus!
Black US MARINE GUY THERE that was a volunteer! I wish I got his name! So this is another shoulder over the arm obstacle... So, I knew I couldn't do this one again... It hurt me bad at the last TM I did in NJ in November... I talked to Marine, he showed me another way to do obstacle... To get my whole body into the freezing cold water, float on my back and pull myself backwards across and use my hands over and over again... I SCREAMED AT THE OTHER SIDE OF THE OBSTACLE AND YELLED and POINTED at him, ' YOUR THE MAN! YOUR ARE THE MARINE!, YOU ARE AWESOME!'
Mile 6- ALL ABOUT MY KEVIN! SEX AND MY KEVIN! LOL! SEX! How can I be more affectionate to my husband than I already am... How to accelerate my marriage to farther limits... The mile I laughed and had awesome thoughts! ;)
MILE 7 - Lucky 7! I thought about all my family and friends that are closest to me and how LUCKY I am to have them in my life! I was able to reflect on all those that are no longer with us like my Nanny and Poppy, my friends that have passed on... I thought about my Angel LINDA! I thought about my mom, dad, sister and her family, my brother's family, my husband's family, my extended family like my aunts and uncles... I thought about my friends that have diseases that I wish they all went away so they can be healthier.. AMAZING SHIT HERE! This was the mile I cried alot... I thought about my new awesome friend Heather who I ran Ugly Mudder with... Cuz this was my last Mud Run I did this year and it was 7 miles long...
Mile 8 - The HATE MILE! I thought about everything, everyone and all things that just annoy me... I was able to tromp out all my aggression and finally just leave it there in the mud... Gone and out of my mind... So over those ppl that I feel just use me and push me over and take my thoughts and use them for their own... GOODBYE! SO LONG!
MYSTERY OBSTACLE: PYRAMID- AWESOME! It was about LISTENING AND TRUST FOR ME! So, I didn't think I could do this one cuz you gotta climb on ppl to get up and someone's gotta pull your arms... I have a super bad shoulder... The Volunteer guy that was at the obstacle told me, 'you can do this, you are stronger than you think and someone is up there already holding their hand to help you and I'm right here, so you can't fail you.' So, I LISTENED and TRUSTED and I did it... I cried at the top and cried sliding down... A woman took pictures of me the whole time and I cannot wait to see them and post!
MILE 9 - CLEANSING THOUGHTS And Peeling more layers of confidence one again and thoughts about Kurtis and I gotta pick up the speed cuz I gotta see Kurtis play at his opening day baseball game... I kept saying.. 'KEEP PUSHING, KEEP PUSHING'... and my knees don't hurt, my knees don't hurt...LOL!
So a mudder asked me on a passing...'so where is the rest of your team anyway?' I said, 'Its the person I look at in the mirror everyday so Your looking at it, I am my team' The mudder said,'Is anyone waiting for you at the end?' I said, 'ya, the person I told in the mirror today that I will see you the finish line'... Mudder said to me, 'Damn, you are one strong ass mudder!' ;)
Mile 10 - I said, 'Holy shit! it's not over at mile 10, it's 11 miles! CRAP!' This mile was about carrying needless weight... I carried logs for this mile... So I had to figure out what is weighing me down in my life that I can make lighter to go faster and be more efficient... What is holding me back or what's in my way... What am I not doing to be more successful... What do I need to be swifter? What can I remove from my agenda... All great questions I asked myself...
Mile 11- This was an emotional mile... I went through the finish line (13:13), did the happy dance with the one volunteer that put the orange tough mudder buff on me... Cried, raised my arms and said, 'HELL YA!' I couldn't keep a smile off my face... I was so excited my teeth turned into layers of streaming lights...LOL! and I got my shirt, my coconut water (THANK GODDNESS for that! It's one of my staple foods!), my protein bar, got my picture take with DOS GIRLS and to Finish Line Pics and screamed to crowd, 'who's gotta a phone, I gotta make a call'... 5 people handed me their phones within seconds and said here... I called Kevin and of course, it went to voicemail... It was an unknown number to him... I left him message and walked another half mile to my car to get money and phone, came back down bought an awesome new green TM t-shirt and hoody ;) then went PEE! LOL! Called my hubby and cried in happiness.... Went to finisher pic place again and had someone take my pic with my phone...
So..............WOW! CRAZY Stuff, han!!
Thanks for everyone's support! I am grateful!
Simply,
Sherry ;)
