Robb had always planned to return to Starkhaven when his war was over, and as far as he was concerned, the moment the tear in the veil was closed and Corypheus defeated, his war was over. And yet, if it had not been for the Inquisition, Robb would not be standing here at all, and he’d not have had a home to go back to. He would do to remember that. The mages knew freedom under this new order, and it was all because of the woman he now followed into the brush, her green glowing hand sparking occasionally, though the Inquisitor had told them “not to worry” (as though that was possible). But Robb was a soldier and a prince, not a scout, so when the professor at the University of Orlais had called for the Inquisition to find his “academic research” in the Frostback Basin, Robb could not understand why he had been chosen to accompany the Inquisitor. Until now.
Swinging his staff like a sword--sometimes blunt force was needed and faster than a spell--Robb hit the attacker then ducked under the next blow. It was the first attack on their way to the island, and Scout Harding had warned them as much, but Robb had a feeling it would not be the last. By the time they arrived in Wolf Hold, their party was panting, bloodied, and exhausted, but miraculously still alive.
While the Inquisitor went to speak with their leader in hopes of getting them guest right, Robb stopped and watched the trials taking place: the bowmen, warriors, defenders, and champions all practicing in the yard. It was the girl, however, who caught his eye, as she hurled an axe over a man’s head. She was good; very good.
