It hurt a bit, more so when it was closer to the shoulder blade rather than the bulb of the shoulder. It was a breeze compared to the pain of my foot tattoo though! And thank you! :’D

In the hitchups!universe, Hiccup as a dad seems to adventure away from Berk, and Astrid is the only thing keeping him there. With Alivia, he doesn't seem to see her much, but you once mentioned that he sends her gifts from his travels. Is this a parallel to Vallhalarama and her relationship to Stoick and Hiccup as he was growing up? Does abandoning family responsibilities run in the family? If that makes any sense at all xD

Well in the Hitchups!universe Stoick is more the thing that keeps Hiccup tied to Berk.  Astrid isn't even on Berk half the time. She's off with Fishlegs doing their own adventures.  What keeps Hiccup died to the Barbaric Archipelagoes is Alivia, yes, and Camicazi.  And, again, his father.  They're his closest ties.

But outside of that, yeah, it is a parallel to Valhallarama--just in terms of parenting. It's partly why Hiccup was so upset about Alivia at first.  He didn't want to be a father. He knew what he wanted--or was just starting to figure it out and get his feet under him--and being a crappy parent wasn't a part of it--and even then he knew he would end up like his mother. Some part of him did, because he could already empathize with the wanderlust and the scattered mind and the addiction to adrenaline and curiosity. And it's not so black-and-white as to simply 'drop everything and be a dad/mom'; he's not that niave. He was caught up in a life that would leave him antsy and agitated if he were ever forced into such a role.

'In another life' as Camicazi mused. It wasn't meant to be in that one. Not then. Not at that point.

On a side note, that's part of why I was excited about the mommy-hinting in httyd2.  It'd be a long shot, but it would still bring up an opportunity to see my preference for Hiccup resenting his mother and being so much like her at the same time. :)

Despite having only about 3 hours of sleep last night, it turned out my Chinese test was relatively easy, and I made a few things explode today in chem. So I guess my classes were manageable. Though now I have the homework to get to... xD
