Excuse me, but I really disagree with your post about Erek. He isn't just pretending to care. He never got the Animorphs nearly killed in book 26, where are you even getting that from?? And how could you use book 54 as evidence for him not caring about other life forms when the entire reason he did what he did was to stop Yeerks from being killed?
He deliberately withheld information from the Animorphs about the Howlers. As a result, they nearly got killed in their first battle with the Howler in book 26. If he’d told them everything he knew about the Howlers straight away, they would have been much, much safer. But Erek cared more about his revenge against the Howlers than he did about keeping the Animorphs safe.
We don’t know exactly how Erek’s pacifist programming works, so we don’t know how it weighs the deaths of some people vs. the deaths of others. No question, what Erek did to protect Yeerk lives was at the expense of other lives. Indeed, what he did could have prevented the Animorphs from winning, which would result in the Earth getting nuked to a crisp by the Andalites, so in the final analysis he put the entire planet at risk. What he did was foolhardy and ultimately seemed to relieve his immediate feelings of guilt rather than truly consider how many lives might end as the result of his actions.
For your autistic character question, one thing I would especially like to see is more female autistic characters. I would also like to see less of autistic characters being portrayed as just awkward and embarrassing and more of them being part of a close friend group with people who actually like them and show it. Maybe even a nice romantic relationship. Or are you looking for more specific trait ideas or stim ideas for your characters? Are these your OCs that you've drawn art of?
i’m just looking for ways to represent autistic characters that rarely get shown in the rare media that has em! two of my main characters in what i’m working on right now are autistic and i just wanted input on what autistic people specifically would/wouldn’t want to see in those portrayals. one of them is this guy and the other is a girl i haven’t redesigned yet so i’m too embarrassed to show old drawings bahaha.
X (just kidding, I already know the answer), G, H
X: A character you enjoy making suffer.;) ;) ;) B) B) B)
G: Care to share a favorite crack fic?“Cat’s in the Cradle” is a gift to fanfiction. The childishness of Loki is fabulous Also, “Corrections” is just so cracky that I laugh anyway. Who doesn’t like the image of Odin sleeping on the couch for betting on Loki against a horse.
H: How would you describe your style?Recently I half-jokingly half-seriously compared my writing style to that of John Okada, describing our writing style as “very conflicted sad boys” and “very long no punctuation prose of internal conflict that’s rustically pleasing.” My tactic tends to be writing very run-on sentence prose that is usually illogical and tricks itself into looking poetic lol. I either go very Hemingway or very Nathaniel Hawthorne in the detail of my prose, and nothing in between.
