⸺ ＳＯＬＬＥ Ｍ
The biggest village among the three. The harsh period of isolation from the Mainland forced Norrdfolk into complete self-sufficiency. Today, Norrdem's main activity is handcrafting : woodwork, leatherwork, textiles, tool-making and food. Most of these are done within Sollem.
includes : white-fleeced sheep. a shepherd's daemon guiding flocks into their pens. high grasses and small lakes. the warm glow of a lantern. turf roofs and weathered wood. the smell of sheep's cheese curing in cellars. the rythmic hitting of a hammer on steel.
⸺ ＢＯＲＥＯＳ
The smallest village (population-wise). Not a craft-centered village like Sollem, but Boreos's strength lies on it's sheer height : the cliffs are the perfect training ground for first-time fliers, and the mountain range serves as a lookout to watch over the stretch of sea between the Islands and the Mainland. The area is also well-suited for combat training.
I lived here for a couple of years, training under the guidance of a messenger chief. I mainly studied maps and Mainland politics.
includes : wind tugging on cloaks. daemons letting themselves drift in the air. stone stairs and cobble pathways. bitter herbs and tea. delighted first-flight squeals. scribbles on parchment and weathered mainland maps. echoes of blades meeting. hand-to-hand combat. crow's feet and calloused hands.
⸺ Ｍ ÆＬＥＯＳ
The closest to the sea and the epicenter of trade to, and from, the Mainland.
Known for its carefree and unruly nature, this village has quite the...reputation. Any reason (and i mean it, any reason) is good enough reason for a celebratory pint of mead. However, most Maeleos crew members & merchants are also known to be honest and reliable folk, so visitors & locals often turn a blind eye to their antics.
I was born here! But I regularly move between Maeleos and Sollem, since I have family in both (dad's in Maeleos, mom's in Sollem).
includes : sand sticking to skin. fishing nets laid to dry. belly laughter and distilled spirits. produce being loaded onto boats. the constant smell of fish being grilled. late night hubbub and morning headaches. tired merchants coming home from the Mainland. kids splashing in waves.
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐘 𝐇𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 — SUMMER OF 2024/1999 LORE . . . siblings eden and eddie crowley return to their mother's hometown of aberfeldy for the summer. however, what they assume is going to be an awkward season of family drama and their mother and grandmother quickly proves the opposite. upon discovering that the pond on their family's farm can send them back in time, the twins start jumping back to hang out with their new friends in 1999—who happen to be their mother and her high school friendgroup.
however, what starts as a innocent exploration of the past uncovers something far more dark and dramatic. the summer of 1999 is the year that tragedy forever struck their family with the mysterious disappearance of their mom's little sister, raonaid. as each of their visits to the past draw closer and closer to the fated day, the twins begin to wonder if the pond wants them to try and save raonaid. however, meddling with time never ends well... will the twins be able to save their family or be the ones who doom it in the end?
