[ 天使 ]  second  child.  someone  who  was  absent  in  most  of  his  loops,  but  that  of  course  didn’t  stop  her  from  leaving  her  footprints  in  every  world.  the  pilot  of  unit  02,  which  up  until  now  had  routinely  become  his  vessel  of  decent  into  central  dogma.  this  time  was  exceptionally  different.  she  was  present.  angry.  his  expression  softened  into  a  characteristic  smile.

Noriko rubbed her eyes again, staring disbelievingly across the hall. Having finished unpacking she was about to head out of her dorm for a break. That’s when she saw her. It couldn’t be. Unmistakable red hair. Her face looked too similar for it not to be her. It had to be. Noriko hadn’t seen her since fourth grade and yet there was no mistaking it.

Hand gripping her door frame she called out, “Asuka?”

     ❝ I’M HOME. ❞

               He slips off his shoes and comes down the hall. It’s quiet this evening. Misato would be staying late for work tonight, and so it would be only him and Asuka in the apartment. He can worry about dinner in a little while -- after a long day at school and at NERV, Shinji is exhausted.

               So he enters the living room, where Pen-Pen has occupied the bean bag chair in front of the TV, and falls back onto the couch instead. Phone in hand, he opens up a messaging app he found mainly as a result of peer pressure; Toji and Kensuke poked and prodded until he finally caved and downloaded it. He’s never really been particularly active on social media except to waste time, but his classmates went on and on about how addicting this one was. Shinji insisted he was fine just using Line. Toji and Kensuke insisted he was wrong.

               So far, he’s discovered nothing special about it. One person has asked him to chat recently, though, and he’s not sure who they are, but he found he was too afraid to say no and was pleasantly surprised by how nice they seemed so far. If no one else is home right now, maybe they’ll be around.

                          “This may be just me, but I think your hair makes you stand out from everybody in here.” Most servers probably make some small talk to the customers to keep up a lively and friendly atmosphere-- but Minato just hoped his attempt to strike a conversation with this recurring lady didn’t come off as awkward. “I don’t know, maybe it’s your red hair. It’s... quite unique.”

     When they’re not at each other’s throats, they exchange recipes! Since it seems to come up between the two of them a lot — and neither of them want to suffer through Misato’s cooking unless it’s absolutely necessary. They end up coming up with some cool fusions between eastern and western cooking over time, and it becomes a sort of common ground where they don’t butt heads…as much.
