Domestic stuff for y'all from an unnamed au. Shimmeringflames fic and tagging my dude @rip-a-dip-dip-you-potato-chip .

It was a Saturday afternoon as Shanyao and Mk were watching a monkey mech marathon. Mk trying to be more involved in his brother's life as of late given he almost went completely unaware of the current situation. To be honest he hadn't been checking in with Shanyao as much as the rest of the group.

Heck, he should have realized something was up sooner. Now he felt stupid and awful. He was going to be an uncle and he almost didn't know! He been too busy training with the monkey king that he didn't know until he heard Mei talking with Biggs about it!

"bro? Earth to Mk do you copy?" Shanyao asked as he snapped his fingers in front of Mk's face. Snapping Mk back into the moment, someone was knocking at the loft door,"could you get the door I'm somewhat stuck"

"Oh! Yeah of course" Mk said as he got up and went to answer the door as Shanyao popped some chips in his mouth. Though his bump wasn't super big yet it was still noticable and Shan did already have a bad back. Mk open the loft door and his eyes went wide seeing the demon before him. He reached behind his ear to grab the staff but the red head just shoved past him annoyed. Neither speaking.

"hey bull cherry what's up?" Shanyao said as he paused the episode that him and Mk were on to look over at Red son. Mk was confused as Red son walked over to Shan and stole his spot?!

"how are you feeling?" Red son asked as he set the bag of food he brought aside still ignoring Mk completely. Mk just staring at the two of them bewildered. What was he missing. Last time he saw them in the same room they were trying to kill each other and fighting over robots! Yet now things seemed rather gentle, maybe even sweet? What the hell?!

" just a bit tired. Nothing to worry about." Shan said softly as Red son put a hand on his bump and gave Shanyao a softly headbutt to the forehead. A loving gesture truthfully, it was rather sweet especially when he heard the gentle appreciative giggle from Shan," it's great to see you too"

Before Red son could say anything more Mk abruptly shouted," What's going on here?! I'm so confused aren't you guys enemies like we're enemies?"

"No noodle boy" Red son said with rather a bit of annoyance as he removed his hand from Shanyao's bump to rub his own brow. He turned himself slightly and wrapped his left arm around Shan's shoulder," have you been living under a rock?"

"easy Firefly he's been busy with the monkey king actually training him for once" Shan said calmly as he laid his head on Red's shoulder,"and it's not like you live here all the time."

"He still should have known about the change in our relationship! Even the dragon horse girl knows!" Red son huffed before kissing Shanyao's forehead. Shan had been his mate for almost a year! Sure they kept it a secret at first but they weren't the best at hiding it. Was noodle boy that obvious?! His own mother called him out three months into their relationship while giggling. It was the entire reason father refused to fight Shanyao.

"firefly again Mk's been busy and focused on other things. I mean Mei didn't realize it until you showed up to my ultrasound three months ago so give him a break." Shanyao said as he rubbed Red's cheek. Shan didn't take it personally, Mk had bigger matters to attend to in his opinion. It was one of the only things Red son really hated about Shan. His carmel candle light didn't see themself as important or even a priority to anyone else.

"but you're his brother! He should know these things" Red son said gently with a frown as he rubbed Shanyao's cheek. The pleading look in Shan's eyes made Red son relent this time. He kissed Shan softly before nuzzling his partner,"alright but I'm kicking your brother's ass if he misses anymore of your life."

"hey I didn't do it on purpose and you took my spot I was sitting there first!" Mk protested as he crossed his arms and pouted. Shanyao snorted as Red son glared at Mk.

"well noodle boy wasn't written here so it was free for the taking noodle boy" Red son said before sticking his tongue out at Mk. After a few minutes more of pity arguing, the three when back to what Shan and Mk been originally doing. Except Shan was eating a craving food Red son had brought for him.

"wait WHAT?!" Wukong said jumping a bit as Macaque rolled his eyes.

"you heard me, light bulb is five months pregnant with DBK's first grandchild." Macaque repeated as he checked his nails. Wukong was completely floored, he didn't even know Shan was interested in people like that! Crap how'd he miss that?

"Do... Do they know that?" Wukong honestly asked as Macaque took a sip of his Booba tea," like does Red son know he's pregnant?"

"they've been mates for a year Wu. It be pretty fucking idiotic of Red son not to know. Now if they're getting officially married I have no idea. Kid hasn't been focused on that, more on having a healthy cub"

Tender moments

I wanted to write some lost son au fluff so enjoy the shimmering flames content folks)

Red son walked down long corridor to his and Shan's bedroom. He pulled out the purple hair band he used to keep his hair up and let his hair unpack itself as he opened his bedroom door. There sat his husband who was only in pajama pants and didn't even have a glamour on.

It had been a rough week for the couple, first they failed to find a new source of power for DBK, then there was the whole noodle boy disaster Red son had today. Amongst everything else the two dealt with on a daily basis.

It was tiring to say the least. Red son took off his coat and tossed it aside with a sigh. Which caught Shanyao's attention as the monkey paused what he'd been watching on their flat screen TV. A wielders competition show to no surprise. The monkey was always fascinated by what went into crafting weapons. He grabbed one of their pillows with his tail. The monkey was setting up to groom Red son as he changed into pajamas.

"come here sweet flame." Shanyao said sweetly as he patted in front of him on the bed. He knew Red son enjoyed it. Red never admit it though.

"if you insist Carmel" Red son said as he crossed his arms. Shanyao hadn't groomed him since father's return, they'd just been too busy. Too much to be done for sweet tender moments like this.

"I very much to do," Shanyao cooed as Red son laid down on his lap. Gentle fingers began to run across Red's scalp checking for anything that could be stuck in there. Red son closed his eyes and let Shanyao basically rub his scalp. His husband's tail wrapped itself around his arm so he could alert Shan off any pain.

He could still remember the first time Shanyao groomed him. He was 7 years old and had seen Macaque somewhat roughly groom Shanyao. Foolishly he tried to stop it because he thought the old monkey was ripping Shan's hair out. To which lil Shan patted for him to sit in front of Shan. To reassure him, the little monkey wasn't getting hurt.

Even as a little child Shanyao knew how to groom others. Mother and Macaque had decided it was a basic instinct. Something his Carmel was just born able to do.

Red son back then felt embarrassed that he had assumed the wrong thing after Shanyao had started to groom him. Just like now the simple gentle fingers going through his hair and rubbing his scalp was such a calming moment. It felt good, he only wished he provide the same feeling to Shan.

However Red son was not the best at grooming, his attempts at the monkey's way of grooming ended in disaster. His fingers tips heat up too much or he'd over think it and get too rough. So he'd decided that if he was the one doing the groomer he'd brush Shan's fur. Having mother teach him how to do it the best way. He only hoped Shan enjoyed the brushing.

"you've got a tiny piece of metal jammed in your scalp. I'm going to pull it out okay?" Shanyao cooed softly as he gently plucked the flake of metal out of his head before kissing the spot softly," you need to be more careful around the bull clones my love"

"I make no promises" Red son grumbled, it isn't his fault that noodle boy slammed bots into him! He lifted up his arm and kissed the tail wrapped around it. Hearing the sweet purr from Shanyao.

"I love you" Shan purred sweetly which made Red smile. Mission accomplished. No more mopy Red son.

"I love you too Carmel sun" Red son said sweetly, they could find a power source after the weekend. They needed a small break.

It was a Saturday afternoon as Red boy found himself searching for his younger companion. The monkey was supposed to have come to the castle by now. It very unusual that he wasn't by Red boy's side at this very moment. If Red didn't find him soon mother would notice!

"Monkey boy this isn't funny where are you hiding!?" Red yelled out as he walked in to the garden. He looked around for darker shadows and checked his own every couple minutes.

This wasn't funny! Did that baboon what him to get in trouble again for "losing" them? He was grounded for a month last time! He was mad as he stormed towards the garden lake to check there.

He was never really for plants they were just to fragile for his liking. He was going to rip that idiot a new one for making him have to search! He was the prince here not Shanyao!

He was about to yell again when he spotted the monkey sitting by the lake side. He stopped in his tracks, the monkey was hurt. Red boy knew he had started training with his father recently but mother never left Red with serious injuries after practice sparing.

Shanyao had slash marks across his arms and bruises. It made Red shiver to see the monkey so disheveled and tired. It actually hurt, gods why did it hurt to see that fool tired? Usually Red boy be thanking heaven for the break from the twelve year olds antics. Yet this was soul crushing.

He slowly walked over and sat next to Shanyao. The younger boy shiver and glanced up him in tears.

"it's just me monkey boy....are you alright?" Red son asked softly as he reached over to put his hand on Shan's back. Shan buried his face back in his knees.

"don't call me that please...I don't deserve to be a monkey" Shanyao said as he choked down tears and began to shake as Red son touched him,"I'm not good enough... I'm never gonna be good enough to be what I am"

"why is that? Who told you, you're not good enough to be a celestial monkey?" Red son asked as he started to get angry on his companion's behalf. Shanyao was just as worthy of his title as Red boy was of his own! So just as absurdity of who ever said Shan didn't deserve that title was a blasphemous fool! He was going to fight them.

"Father... I'm not learning fast enough because of how sick I get and I keep stumbling when we train and and-" Shanyao said as he choked on his tears and rubbed his eyes. Red son got up and cracked his knuckles.

"I'm going to fight him! He has no right to say such things to you father or not!" Red son said as he towards the garden exit. Shanyao stumbled to his feet to try and stop Red. Grabbing the older boy's arm.

"He'll kill you! I just *hic* need to get better! Stronger!"Shanyao pleaded through hiccups as the bull dragged him towards the exit.

"I don't care I will not stand for this!" Red boy yelled sternly. He wasn't going to stand for it even if mother tried to stop him. Shan couldn't help his immune system or that fool moving to quickly in his training.

Macaque had been drinking tea with Iron fan in the foyer when a fireball nearly hit him in the face from out of nowhere. Both adults were surprised as they turned to where it came from to see the fuming fourteen year old.

"HOW DARE YOU!!" Red boy hissed as he summoned another fire ball. Poor Shanyao trying to stop him in tears.

"darling, what did Macaque do to inspire this rage and disrespect?" Iron fan asked calmly as she got her fan out to deflect another blow.

"He told Shanyao that Shan's not worthy of being a celestial monkey! Not to mention these injuries that fool gave Shanyao training him!!!" Red boy shouted as Iron fan turned to Macaque," I will not stand for such slander!"

"Red please stop I don't want father to hurt you!" Shanyao begged as he wrapped his arms around Red's arms. Exposing the injuries on his injuries to Iron fan. Who subsequently hit Macaque upside the head.

"must I teach you the difference between tough love and abuse Liu Er? He's 10!" Iron fan hissed at the monkey before turning back to their boys," Red son go take care of dear Shanyao's wounds and get some treats from the kitchen. I'll handle things from here."

"come with me Shanyao we'll get your favorites" Red son said as he wrapped his arm around Shanyao's waist and teleported off.

"wait where's Red son?" Mk asked as he showed up ready for a fight with said demon only to find Bob. Was this a trick? Red son usually didn't play mind games.

"he had more important matters to attend too" Bob said nervously as he tried to figure out what to do. Mk was confused wasn't finding a power source for his dad like his main thing? What would be more important than that?

"Im here Carmel. It'll be over soon." Red son said as he rubbed his husband's back. Shanyao was basically wrapped around the toilet in their bathroom. Red was doing his best to comfort his husband who was suffering from a nasty bit of nausea.

"I hate this so -" Shanyao groaned softly before he went back to gretching in the toilet. Red rubbed his back slowly as Shanyao's tail wrapped around his husband's waist.

"hey it's going to be alright Carmel monkey just breathe.You're almost to your second trimester love it should lighten up soon" Red son said as he tried to reassure his husband. There was no way even for his parents that Red son let Shanyao handle this alone again.

He learned his lesson from what happened before. He should have been there, he hadn't been there.

"I- I think that's it" Shanyao panted heavily as he leaned back on Red son. Utterly exhausted as Red son wrapped his arms around Shanyao's waist. Shan laid his head on Red's shoulder and took in the sweet smell of cherry soot. He was grateful for the little bit comfort he got from his love's scent.

Red scooped Shanyao up shortly after he was sure his beloved was really done throwing up. Carrying him out of their bathroom back to the king size bed the two shared in their bedroom.

"Remind me to apologize for distracting you when your parents come to scold us alright?" Shanyao said softly as he was tucked in while Red son chuckled at the statement. He thought it was ridiculous Shanyao thought that.

"don't be foolish Carmel. There's no need to apologize, you clearly need me here and I'm sure at least father understand" Red son said as he kissed Shanyao's forehead lovingly, before he cradled his husband's scarred cheek in one hand," If anything they should apologize to you for what happened a few nights ago. I'm sorry I should have defended you better."

"hey, hey it's alright. I pushed my luck and lost the draw," Shanyao said with a soft weak smile as he sunk into his husband's touch. Just taking in another one of those rare tender moments these two got to themselves while lightly joking," and at least I didn't throw on the princess or I probably be dead"

"I highly doubt she would have killed you sweet monkey."Red son said with a soft chuckle as he rubbed Shanyao's cheek," you can't help what our little one doesn't like. It be unfair to get mad at you for that."

" Yes it be very foolish for either of us to get angry because of that. I just wish to be informed when you get nauseous in the future" Mowang said as he peaked in to the room. Scaring his son by accident, his son in law heard him coming. Shanyao weakly waved to Mowang as he walked in.

"you could have warned me my father was coming down the hallway!" Red son said as he shoved his face in his hands. The king chuckled as he sat next to his son on the floor.

"then how's supposed to spook you cherry blossom" Shanyao playfully asked before looking to the Bull king," I apologize about being a distraction."

" no need to apologize for what you can not help. My wife could barely leave bed when she was expecting this one" Mowang said with a chuckle as he patted his son's back," if anything I ask you to rest. I just came to check in my wife mentioned that your health has never been perfect and expecting a little one puts a lot strain on a person."

"I'll be alright I've lived through worse" Shan said reassuringly as Mowang ruffled his hair. It felt odd to have a father figure check in because they were worried about his health. Macaque didn't even check on him when he got the facial scar. Was this what parental worry was?
