💙 Happy Ikarishipping Day 💜
Anyone who’s been following my channel for a while already knows that I prepare something for Ikarishipping Day every year, and this year I’ve come up with something really special! I drew this picture a few years ago and always thought it would look great as a full-body standee. I’ve also always wanted my own shop, but I was always pretty intimidated by the idea of opening one, until I finally took the plunge this year!
I’ve always been more interested in making merchandise for “lesser-known” ships that I really love, but for which there’s hardly any fan merchandise available. Ikarishipping is especially close to my heart, as I associate it with many memories from my early youth. Pokémon is probably what first sparked my interest in drawing and Ikarishipping was likely the first ship I truly fell in love with. I edited fan videos, drew fan art, started fanfictions (and never finished it), until in 2018 I even started my own doujinshi about it on DeviantART. Even though I never finished that one either, it was always clear to me that I have a very special connection to this ship.
I’m happy to be part of such a lovely community and to finally give something back, even if it’s not the most well-known ship :D
I incorporated several Easter eggs into the standee, such as a Plinfa in the background and small Palkia and Dialga symbols. I’ve always found it really interesting about Ikarishipping that Dawn, Dialga, and Diamond all start with D, while Paul, Palkia, and Pearl all start with P. You can see this parallel in several places in this artwork, haha. What I especially like about this standee is that parts of the background are semi-transparent, so you can see Paul and Dawn in the background too! You can also rearrange all the standees to change the order.
