If you speak english and german already, swedish is like, cousins to both of those languages so once you get over the first hump of like "why the fuck is sked pronounced that way???" the grammar and stuff is pretty approachable

I am also learning Russian because Geno. The alphabet is pretty easy to learn, and the words are pretty phonetic. Having the separate alphabet has actually been helpful for me to remember the words because I can't get them confused with English.
Also Geno mumbles like crazy, even in Russian, and I can barely make it out so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I can see the logic in that re the alphabet, though not sure it would help me the same way, but I totally sympathise with feeling like you /should/ be able to understand someone if they would just STOP MUMBLING DAMNIT lol. native speakers speaking too quickly to follow is always an issue :|
