A Gintama episode a day keeps the ending away...Episode 56

There was no title card for this episode since it was already shown in the last episode, so I give you the Shinsengumi’s new mascot instead:

MY 10 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 56 (manga chaps 101 and 102):

1) The Shinsengumi committing mutiny on their chief because of their new (temporary) chief.

2) I loved their Otsuu-speak.

3) I wish Tae-chan was present to see all the flirting between Kondou and Otsuu. I really wanted to know if she would be remotely jealous.

4) Pachi-kun was being more extra than usual in this episode. I feared for the health of his eyeballs.

5) Those kids are going to need therapy for the rest of their lives.

6) Ok I loved this moment simply because it looked like Papa Hijikata has had enough with his pestering Yorozuya kids.

7)  The dialogue was slightly different in the manga, I prefer this version instead. Would’ve loved to see the result of that group social party.

8) I just want to point out that my two OTPs, GinHiji and OkiKagu, have matching expressions, and the two future bro-in-laws have matching expressions as well. Coincidence? I think NOT.

9) I think Gin-chan was sexy posing even while he was getting beaten up by Hijikata. 

10) Okita’s cute rocket punch.

SHIPS TALLY:

Gintoki x Hijikata: find someone who looks at you like the way Gintoki looks at Hijikata even while he’s being abused by him.

Kondou x Otsuu: I really think Kondou had a shot with Otsuu. Sure, Shinpachi would murder him so dead, but probably would’ve been worth it since he would’ve gotten farther than he has ever gotten with Tae-chan.

Kondou x Otae: speaking of Tae-chan...and Kondou was...of her farts.

Shinpachi x Otsuu: guy was going to give himself an aneurysm for her sake. 

Yamazaki x Otsuu: I hope she rewarded him with more than just her autograph for saving her.

Hijikata x Okita: their interactions with each other were pretty cute throughout the episode. 

Okita x Kagura: kinda pushing it but still, see moment #8.

Disclaimer: Gintama is not only about shipping. Gintama is hilarious, clever, exciting, poignant, heart-breaking, loving, brilliant, and just completely unbelievably amazing.  It is only due to Sorachi-sama’s immense generosity that I am able enjoy Gintama on an extra another level, the shippy level, and I am forever grateful for that. GINTAMA IS LIFE AND LOVE.

A Gintama episode a day keeps the ending away…Episode 157

Episode Title: Any Place With A Bunch Of Men Gathered Around Will Turn Into A Battlefield

MY 16 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 157 (manga chap 239):

I really needed a good Gintama episode to cheer me up after just finishing a heart-wrenching yet horrible tv show the other night, which made me feel mostly so damn sad, so bless Tosshi for making a timely reappearance. 

1) Oguri Shun strikes again. Lol. I love how they always show him with like ONE expression.

2) Pachi-kun in brain aneurysm mode.

3) Honestly this was really more creepy than impressive. 

4) Just hearing his voice was enough to make me squee. I love the badass entrance Tosshi made.

5) It’s almost not fair to the other guys to have Tosshi stand this close to them.

6) SO GORGEOUS.

7) I wish Shinpachi had to wear that all the time as club captain.

8) I could have done without the head scarf but of course Tosshi still looked good.

9) I loved the meta way the anime team presented the fake ending.

10) That was actual more brutal than necessary so it’s not like I loved this moment, but rather I was downright shocked by it.  It didn’t seem as bad in the manga because the blood wasn’t as clearly defined.

11) Kagura’s side-eye! I WILL ALWAYS LOVE!

11a) Just for good measure.

12) I still appreciated the fake-out.

13) Seriously someone on the anime staff is obsessed with smegma cuz that was NOT brought up at all in the manga, whereas in the anime the use that word at the drop of a pin.

14) OF COURSE I LOVED THIS. Especially how Tosshi’s cool posing to be all sexy like.

15) Really wish they could have conducted the battle in their battle gear but this whole thing was just cute as can be.

16) I thought Gin-san was being very adorable and funny (as usual).

SHIPS TALLY: 

Shinpachi x Otsuu: his passionate devotion is touching.

Shinpachi x Takachin: dear Takachin, always being so supportive of Pachi-kun.

Gintoki x Tosshi: Tosshi obv acted liked he owned the place, which was all sorts of precious.

Shinpachi x Tosshi: out of context, looks like they’re about to kiss. Plus, rivals always makes good ships, even if they were only temporary rivals.

A Gintama episode a day keeps the ending away…Episode 158

Episode Title: If A Friend Gets Injured, Take Him To The Hospital, Stat! (lol, like that was going to ever happen considering what was at stake in this case)

MY 17 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 158 (manga chap 240):

1) Mako-chan’s cameo! (and Sadaharu’s as well)

2) Tosshi’s little giggle at around the 5:09 mark.

3) I just want to thank the anime director for focusing on Tosshi Hijikata’s chest during his monologue for no good reason other than why the hell not.

4) Another nice view, and again, can’t believe I love seeing that man smoke so damn much.

5) Caged Tosshi looking all sexy dangerous.

6) Hijikata’s Evangelion-inspired slide show. Someone on the anime staff obviously loves Evangelion since that was not in the manga (then again, who doesn’t love NGE).

7) Those guns.

8) Really wish they fought part of the battle in this style mode cuz it looked so gorgeous. 

9) This family’s reaction to the shit-eating talk was HILARIOUS.

10) I usually do not like scatalogical humor, but this was so beyond gross that it somehow magically came back around to being funny again (and in case you can’t remember, Gin-chan is referring to Otsuu’s shit. Literally)

11) Their hero pose…even though they’ve just being talking about eating someone’s poop.

12) I appreciated Kagura-chan’s singing even though Gintoki clearly didn’t.

13) Look how into it she is! SHE’S SO CUTE!!

14) This pretty lady was not in the manga and I appreciate her inclusion in the episode. Must be one of Saigou’s gals.

15) Shinpachi being carelessly brutal towards poor Takachin.

16) I wish I could’ve been more upset about Takachin being run over by a car, but I was too busy being happy about seeing Sougo dressed up as a Tsusengumi member.

17) I wish I could’ve been more upset about Takachin being dead and dragged around a la Weekend at Bernie’s, but I was too busy being happy about seeing Yamazaki dressed up as a Tsusengumi member.

SHIPS TALLY:

Shinpachi x Otsuu: I know it’s mostly 100% in his imagination but out of respect for Pachi-kun, I will always include his ship.

Shinpachi x Hijikata: interesting that Shinpachi knew Hijikata so well that he was able to see through his ruse.

Shinpachi x Takachin: dear sweet Takachin. Shinpachi doesn’t deserve him sometimes.

Gintoki x Takachin: I thought it was sweet how complimentary and supportive Gin-chan was of Takachin’s more prominent feature. I choose to believe he was being sincere.

Gintoki x Kagura: even though Gintoki was clearly not a fan of Kagura’s super cute singing, I thought their interactions were still adorable.

A Gintama episode a day keeps the ending away…Episode 124

Episode Title: When Nagging Goes Too Far It Becomes Intimidating

MY 12 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 124 (no manga equivalent):

It’s basically a “Behind the Music” parody centered on Otsuu. I liked it fine cuz I like Otsuu and it was fun seeing a different side to her, but this is only the second time I’ve watched it because...well, it’s definitely no “Chief for a day”.

1) Every time Pachi-kun gets that way I worry for the health of his eyeballs and heart.

2) Yeah he is, or...that’s what I think now of course, but when I first watched this ep, I probably just thought this Aniplex dude was crushing on Bansai.

3) I loved her grumpy face.

 4) Love the callback! I did wonder where Sougo and Yamazaki were though.

5) Whyyyy???? Hijikata is so freaking weird sometimes. I love him.

6) STILL. CUTE.

7) It’s like they were waiting for Otsuu to give birth...which...I guess creatively speaking, she was. But I did wonder why Kondou and Hijikata had so much free time. I guess they just left the Shinsengumi to Okita, that’s why he wasn’t present. And honestly, I kinda like her old songs more than her new one. 

8) Episode ended early, so we had two Ginpachi-sensei episodes, starting with one revolving around Kyuu-chan, who looks so freaking adorable here I could cry.

9) SHESSOCUTE!!! I mean, just..the sweats with the skirt ALONE. I can’t even. 

10) Noooooooooo...I mean, I think she’s ok...I hope...omg I can’t even remember when is the next time we see Kyuu-chan in Ginpachi-sensei’s class. Crap.

11) “Schwa-chan”. I hope that is seriously what everyone calls Schwarzenegger in Japan.

12) I laughed and laughed and laughed...and then was so grateful I could even laugh at that.

SHIPS TALLY:

Gintoki x Hijikata: they were standing next to each other when they first appeared in the episode and then here they’re like PRESSEDUPAGAINSTEACHOTHER (bonus: Kagura’s expression...lmfao).

Ginpachi-sensei x Hijikata-kun: I know teacher/student relationships are taboo and all that, but come on, Hijikata-kun’s like 30 years old. He probably flunked the grade like 10 times so I hardly think the taboo applies in this case.

Otsuu x Demoness Haruna: I don’t even remember who Haruna was...the first time I watched this episode OR this time. But I’m always in support of some yuriness.

Shinpachi x Otsuu: oh crap, almost forgot them cuz they didn’t really have any scenes together, but in Pachi-kun’s mind, it’ll probably always be canon.

A Gintama episode a day keeps the ending away...Episode 30

MY 8 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 30 (manga chap 19):

1) Unless Douman lost some weight and grew out his hair by the next time we see him, that is definitely NOT Douman. Can’t blame the anime team: they couldn’t have guessed we would get a whole badass arc on the weather girl a few years down the line. 

2) I just love how randomly we would sometimes see Kagura just picking her nose in the background. It’s happened a few times before but I think from now on I’m going to actually capture those moments. Obviously she picked up that gross habit from Gin-chan but it’s still cute because it shows how much he’s rubbed off on her.

3) I would’ve loved to see their version of Men in Black.

4) Shinpachi’s badass moment brought to life faithfully from the manga.

5) I think this was a Phoenix Wright reference--honestly, there were a lot of random references in this episode...I didn’t get half of them--not sure but really all I cared about is the fact that Kagura-chan looked SUPER FREAKING ADORABLE.

6) I just really loved her little ponytails!! Unbearably CUTE!!!

7) It’s weird, sometimes when I watch Gintama, I would forget about the existence of Amantos, like I did when I first watched this episode. So the whole time, I was just like, wtf is up with this gimp looking dude? Like Kagura, I thought he was just in a bodysuit too. Btw, none of this was in the manga. There was no murder mystery. The chapter was really just about Otsuu being dumped by some dickhole. 

8) I think Gintoki and Kagura were like on their own separate adventure in this episode, based on the many costume changes.

SHIPS TALLY:

Shinpachi x Otsuu: Pachi-kun would be such a good boyfriend to her...too bad she’s into the shitty pretty boy types (and I’m not including their ship because that guy was a dick).

Gintoki x Kagura: they’re like two immature nutty peas in a pod. Even though they’re not my ship, I do think it’s cute how in sync they are when it comes to mischief and goofing off. 

Gintoki x Ana: at this point it’s totally in his dreams of course especially since she JUST got married.

A Gintama episode a day keeps the ending away...Episode 6

MY 5 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 6 (manga chap 7):

I thought Otsuu was cute and weird right from the start and even though I wasn’t really invested in her family story, I did actually get teary-eyed at the end when she made up with her dad. Didn’t include that moment here because I already had it for my manga post.

1) Shinpachi going ballistic on the police...this was not in the manga and it was hilarious.

2) Was I surprised that Shinpachi was the captain of an idol fan club? Probably not. In fact, I would be surprised if I was surprised.

3) Kagura rescuing Pachi-kun from the gross cannibal fan monster thing that was super gross.

4) I would have totally watched this Kintama series. 

5) The Queen...and omg puppy accessory Sadaharu I want one.

SHIPS TALLY:

Shinpachi x Otsuu: in his dreams...probably forever.

Gintoki x Kagura: This is like the second time Gintoki did that face grabby thing to Kagura...I guess he was more touchy in the beginning than he is now...I actually never really noticed it until now...probably because I just took it for granted since I wasn’t keeping track.

Kintoki x Kagura the Chinese Mafia Boss x Shinpachi: canon...in the Kintama host universe. Using the same image as #5 because Kagura just looks so damn cool.

A Gintama chapter a day keeps the ending away...Lesson 484

MY 10 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN LESSON 484:

CUTE arc! Love it!

Moment 1: I loved Gintoki peeking out from behind the dialogue bubble. When I first read this chapter, I was totally confused as to wtf was happening.

Moment 2: I just love little funny meta touches like this.

Moment 3: He did say he was DRUNK. Shinpachi should have been thankful he didn’t destroy the clock then and there and bring home the corpses the time guardians instead.

Moment 4: Me every morning when my alarm goes off.

Moment 5: The situation reminded me of that creepy Twilight Zone or Amazing Stories episode where time stopped. I remember thinking if they were to repopulate the earth, would their children be frozen as well?

Moment 6: These two total pervs...they deserve the beating they got from Kagura-chan.

Moment 7: The Queen.

Moment 8: Their reaction to essentially killing Gengai was hilarious.

Moment 9: WHY WAS HE TOUCHING IT??? So gross.

Moment 10: Shinpachi straight up murdered Hasegawa with snot.

SHIPS TALLY:

Shinpachi x Otsuu: at least he only wanted to non-con rub her boobs for 3 hours instead of the 30,000 years that Gintoki was suggesting?

Gintoki x Crystel: at least he was willing to marry her first BEFORE ***** her ketsu no ana? And I just realized that mic on top looks like a big penis. I would not be surprised if Sorachi-sama did that on purpose.
