As for me, I just never liked how the grass starters looked... And then there was Snivy, and I fell in love with that cute little grass snake ^^

I didn’t like grass pokemon until I played X/Y I dunno it was like a switch flipped and I decided to love them. To be fair Treecko is pretty ugly....and Turtwig but somehow I still love them. 

Chikorita is my favorite grass starter and I love it’s design/evolutions much more than Totodile (which is saying a lot cos I’m strictly water starters) but I would still pick Totodile as my Johto starter. I don’t ever see the point of having grass pokemon on my teams especially when some pokemon can learn grass type moves if you really need them
