X-files - Plus One - Post-ep MSR Fanfic

Feeling a bit nervous posting my first ever fanfic after reading them for 20 years (ugh...for real!). But...you’ve got to start somewhere. I’m open to constructive feedback. Let me know what works and what doesn’t. Hopefully this is a fun read! This takes place immediately post-episode after Plus One.  **Characters are not my own. Blah blah. I’m just a huge X-files fan**.

Title: STEAMY (title will become more obvious in part 2) He looked so calm and cool, but a part of him had been filled with enough doubt to worry and make him feel self-conscious. Still, the knowledge that she’d never see him waiting with a seductive look on his face, leaning against the doorjamb if she hadn’t come to him, was enough reassurance for him to take the chance. The door handle twisted and the door swung open to reveal Scully standing there with the coyest look on her face. Her smile told him everything he wanted to know. She knew she was in the driver’s seat; having sent him away with an aloof “I can’t imagine that I will”, just a few moments ago, and now having returned to take what she now fancied on a whim.

As soon as their eyes met, they both broke out into wide grins, chuckling together at the elaborate shows they were both putting on and the excitement they both knew lay ahead. 

Mulder reached out with his free arm, his body still resting casually against the doorway, and slid his finger inside the waist of her skirt; pulling her toward him abruptly. 

Scully didn’t resist one bit, only too happy to finally be back in his arms and feeling so desirable. Scully lifted her leg behind her and pushed the door of his room closed with her foot. She could feel the beginnings of Mulder’s erection through his pants and marvelled at how youthful he still was in this respect. In truth, though, it gave her a boost knowing he reacted to her this way at her age and after all these years.

Mulder thread his fingers through Scully’s hair and pulled her face up toward his until their lips were millimetres apart. He let out a slow breath and paused for a moment. He was torn; not wanting to change the playful and scorching hot tone of the moment, but desperately needing her to hear what he’d been wanting to tell her since their tender and intimate talk in bed the night before. Scully noticed his pause and pulled back slightly. “What is it, Mulder? What’s wrong”. Mulder let out another breath “Nothing…nothing’s wrong. Nothing at all. God…having you here….Scully, you came to me. Nothing could be better”, he replied. “But I need to tell you something. I want you to hear it before we take even one step further tonight”. 

Scully worried he was about to drop a bomb on her; something she hadn’t seen coming. Maybe he had already met someone, she worried suddenly. Mulder lowered his head toward her ear and then pushed Scully two steps back until he was pressed up against her, pushing her into the wall. 



“Scully…I need you to know that there won’t ever….EVER be another woman in my life. I’m not going to meet someone else, Scully - not someone younger…not someone my age…not someone older”, he said. “And I’m not going to want kids with someone else”, he continued. His voice was raspy and hoarse as he whispered in her ear. 

“Mulder,” Scully began. 

“No, stop. Let me finish, please”, he cut her off. “You don’t have to tell me the same thing. You don’t have to want to be with me now or ever. And you can go and be with whoever you want, I’ll never stop you. I’m not trying to be a martyr here, Scully. I’m not telling you this to make you feel anything but relief. I never want you to worry again that I’m going to go off and meet somebody else. I don’t want anyone but you…and I realized long ago that it wouldn’t be fair to any other woman to be with me while I secretly pined for someone else….for you”. 

Scully turned her head and pulled it back so she could look into Mulder’s eyes, unsure of what to say. Mulder started speaking again, saving her the trouble of figuring that out. 

He’d said what he needed her to know, but went on, 

“…and Scully, for the record, if you think I find you less desirable now because we’ve both gotten a few years older, then you clearly haven’t been paying attention. You are the sexiest…the most feminine…the smartest and most self confident version of yourself that you have ever been”. 

Scully gasped a small gasp at hearing his words. Mulder lowered his lips and nudged her head to the side so he could kiss the spot right under her ear. He trailed kisses down her neck as Scully closed her eyes and melted into him, nearly unable to stand.Mulder gently began unbuttoning her blouse and planted kisses that moved father and farther down the front of her neck. 

He stopped between kisses to continue his reverent monologue. “The curves of your body…::kiss kiss::…the slope of your breasts…::kiss kiss::”. Mulder ran one hand behind Scully to cup her ass, while the other hand rose to gently skim the side of her breast. Scully was panting and felt a little guilty about how aroused she was getting from all the compliments Mulder was doling out. 

“God, Mulder”, Scully panted. “I…I feel the same way about you”. Scully ran her hands up and down Mulder’s chest. She loved the feel of his muscles under her tiny hands. Everything about him was firm and strong, even if the years had added a thicker layer of skin on top. She never judged him for getting older, knowing full well that it was the way of the world and finding renewed attraction in the changes she saw in his body. 



“I…I can’t imagine myself with anyone else after all these years. And…boy,” she paused for a moment and looked up into his eyes, “…you’ve managed to get even hotter these last couple years, Mulder; defying some natural law, for sure”, she chuckled, as they ran their hands over each other’s bodies softly. 



“Now,” Scully continued more confidently, “…if we’re done with this, I’m wondering if you’ll take me to the shower”. 



Mulder broke out into a big grin, lowering his head toward her ear, once more. “Take you to the shower, or in the shower, Scully?”, he teased. 



“I didn’t intend to choose between the two”, Scully replied with a naughty grin.

Summary: "The water was crashing against the rocks, methodically wearing against the cliffs of her childhood. Wearing them down just as surely as Xena was worn down, watching waves dashing against the shore and wondering why she had ever thought she could come home. There was no coming home. Not for her. Not anymore."

Notes: This took me forever and a day to even capture half how I wanted. Hopefully it was worth the effort. This is my long-time love home fandom, though I haven't dabbled in it in a good while, clearly. Somewhat bleak and angsty. Takes place during the first episode of the series - Sins of the Past.
