Spent a lot of time today working on the head of this AIBO ERS-220!  They were shipped to me in way too small of a box, and several parts inside of their head/neck were destroyed in transit.  Lots of small bits of broken plastic everywhere, a real mess.  I was able to replace most of the damaged parts using a donor ERS-210 head, but I had to epoxy one piece that is unique to the 220, as well as the large crack going down the back of their head.  It should hold up well though, since it’s not a part that bears much weight.  I’m currently waiting for the epoxied part to dry overnight before I can finish up reassembly.

adventures in synthesizer shopping part 1

Bought a Korg minilogue 🎹 described as being in “new” condition off the interwebs and it arrived, shall we say, loosely packaged, and thus dented. 😠 😖

I realize they don’t teach how to pack things in school, so please, folks, check out this tutorial at HowToGeek.

Thankfully it’s covered with shipping insurance, so I should be able to get it fixed, but in the meantime I’ve gone ahead and purchased a minilogue XD module - I didn’t realize the original minilogue didn’t have the poly chain feature, and if I end up getting along with the XD it’d be nice to be able to expand it to 8 voices.

Here’s hoping this one is more solidly bubble-wrapped.

Shipping Damage & Bridge Re-glue :: 1971 Guild D25 Brown [4.2 lbs]

An all-mahogany Guild dreadnought that came in with significant shipping damage on the bass side.  The side cracks were glued and the finish repaired to help hide the damage.  We also found that the bridge was lifting and cracked through the pin holes, so it was removed, repaired and re-glued.

I don't know if it's because I've seen so many posts about it, but I haven't even watched 15 minutes of the fist episode of Sherlock, and I'm already 110% convinced that JohnLock is a thing.
