Casual touches between Anne and Gilbert that need to happen in season 3

Gilbert and Anne are walking in woods. Anne is talking about whatever, not being cautious, whilst Gilbert is listening. Suddenly, the ground drops from underneath her as one foot falls into a hole/deep puddle/quicksand. Gilbert is quick to react and snatches her arm, dragging her back up. She, shocked, falls into his chest and grips onto him. Only a moment later does she realise their compromising position and lets go. They keep walking closely to each other though.

Gilbert and Anne going on a stealth mission (Diana gets a love interest? Or Marilla?), and one of them almost gets caught but the other snatches their hand and drags them behind a wall/tree/whatever. 

Anne arguing with Gil as he’s going to do something dangerous and he’s mildly amused by how frazzled she is so to shut her up he kisses her forehead and leaves her standing there, stunned.

Gilbert and Anne have to walk home late at night because of a situation and Gilbert proposes to escort her home. She refuses at first, but seeing as it’s dark and they have to go through the forest, she relents. In the forest, she hears a creepy sound, and instinctively, grabs his hand. He doesn’t say anything and is glad that she can’t see his blushy smirk. She tries not to think of her actions. They don’t let go until she’s at the kitchen door though.

She likes ruffling his hair to tease him... he secretely likes it though 

They hug each other long and earnest when a character dies

Gilbert is gone for the apprenticeship longer than he expected, and when he comes back he hugs Anne and lifts her off the ground (and spins her) out of sheer happiness

Expectations for Anne with an E season 3

As we know by now, the established themes of season three will revolve around family and identity. I’ve given it some thought, and I have listed all my expectations for the upcoming season. I think Anne will explore her heritage when she meets the First Nations people that will live in Avonlea. A catalyst for her adventure might be the First Nations girl that will enroll in the school and the fact that the kids (Diana, Ruby, Gilbert, …) are starting to grow up and shape the lives they want to live. (e.g. Gilbert having the apprenticeship and going to medical school) In comparison to the children, Anne doesn’t know her history, and I believe she’d be quite curious to find out. (What are her origins? Does she resemble her parents, physically and/or mentally? - those are the questions she may ask herself) That storyline might bring some drama between her and the Cuthberts, especially Marilla who has really taken on the role of a mother in season two. What is interesting as well, is that I assume they’re going to make a parallel between Marilla and Anne regarding their life paths. Marilla had the opportunity once to travel with John Blythe when she was young, but due to her duties at home, she couldn’t. She stayed. Now, Anne might have the life Marilla lucked out on. Anne will be on crossroads again. Does she stay to help her newfound family (and perhaps an ill Matthew), or does she go and make her dreams come true? What I’d like to see happen, is Anne and Gilbert teaming up to go research on her past in Avonlea and various other cities, in the same vibe of Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder.  

A B-plot about family will probably be about Bash and Mary having a child. Either with mary being pregnant or already having a baby to take care of. Not only will this bring comic relief and relatability (and perhaps some cute scenes between Gilbert and the baby), but also a slice of drama as Mary still has another son, Elijah. We saw a quick, oddly placed shot of him at the end of the season at Mary and Bash’ wedding. He seemed... disgruntled? Perhaps that she’s starting a new life, seemingly without him? Furthermore, a black family fully integrating in a white farming village might stir up some controversy, as well as the First Nations people, of course. There’ll be lessons on racism, assimilation and solidarity.    

Lastly, I’ve touched upon romance a little bit in previous posts, and I’d like to expand on that. As some of you have read, I have a theory about the seasons used in AWAE. Season two was mostly held during the winter. It kind of symbolises the anguish of both Gilbert and Bash (feeling alone, cold, insecure. winter = dark times), but it also encompasses the warmth a family can have in times like these (the whole recital, Matthew inviting a stranger to said recital, the whole legendary christmas scene, et cetera.)

The ending was around February/March aka the start of spring. Spring is often seen as the season of rebirth; it’s a promise of new beginnings. (= Mary and Bash’ marriage, the blossoming relationship between Gilbert and Anne) Those new beginnings will be explored in season three.

small tidbits i’d love to see but not getting my hopes up for it: - A cliffhanger at the end of season 3 where it’s a parallel to 1x06 when Anne was about to confess to Gilbert via her letter. Instead of Gilbert not being home, now he does open the door. The camera stays on Anne as he says “Hey”, and she beams at him. And then the screen goes black! - an inconsequential hug between Anne and Gilbert. Just because. (which makes it even better) - I’ve screamed this like a thousand time, but rebuilding the story-clubhouse! (symbolism for evolution from childhood to adolescence!) - Cole’s work being shown among others at an art exhibit.

I think the reason why I love Stiles and Lydia as a couple so much, is that the writers dared to go big. It’s not bombastic or exaggerated, but it’s this silent passion that seeps through the cracks of scenes they have together, whether it’s about them or not. It’s the years of history and moments they have that are seen through one look, one smile, one gesture of kindness. It’s this dormant love that would awaken. Not could: would. We didn’t know when, but we knew that there would be a moment where the volcano would erupt and all the emotions that were swimming behind their eyes would pour out. It’s the reason why “You don’t have to” is so important. Lydia doesn’t have to say she loves him because he knows how she shows her love for someone. Stiles knows her character. It’s the reason why “Remember I love you” is so important. It’s this big, tragical declaration of love that doesn’t signify a relationship is in the future (as he gets taken by the Wild Hunt a second after), but is simply that: a declaration of pure, unadultered love. Stiles wants to remind Lydia that he still loves her, so much.  I love Stiles and Lydia together because it’s not this crazed, lust-filled melodrama that we now accept in teen shows. It’s the age-old story of a boy and a girl that fall in love.

Their story is theirs, no one else can compare.

Shirbert is the second ship that I truly got into, but that was a different situation because I got into it a few months after s1 came out, and the fandom had like MAYBE a 100 people? Probably less? Back then, my and @shirbertss were like the mums, the mothership of this “niche” show, producing content left and right. and then it exploded after s2, i got into heaps of fights with people who disagreed with my opinions (god last summer was INTERESTING) BUT I LOVE SHIRBERT REGARDLESS

Dude, shirbert is M A G I C A L. Is it up to par with stydia? no. but it’s close. The meaningful looks, the glances, the stupidity you go through for a crush. ANNE LEGIT WROTE DOWN HER FEELINGS IN A LETTER FOR GILBERT BUT WHEN SHE WAS ABOUT TO GIVE IT TO HIM HE HAD LEFT AND YOU CAN SEE THE TRUE SADNESS IN HER FACE F U C K

I just realised something. 

John and Marilla is like the couple that should've made it but life got in the way. John travelled the world, whilst Marilla remained at home to take care of her mum and Matthew. Now, Anne and Gilbert are slowly growing closer, and in the future, will be married. (i mean?? i assume?? I don't think Moira is legally allowed to change that lol) When they're married, Gilbert and Marilla will be inlaws, and since Gilbert holds so much of John inside of him, it'll be like John is there too. Ergo, Marilla and John may have been physically seperated in the past, but they won’t be spiritually in the near future.
