2016 was a great year for electronic music with upcoming artists putting out cutting edge material and the old guard continuously reinventing itself.

Putting this list together was great fun and I feel it offers a fairly comprehensive cross section of what the year sounded like.

Announcement

I’m slowly rolling out a few changes with regards to my Soundcloud and online presence.

I want to grow Shirosounds out to something bigger and more frequent. The idea is now to feature biweekly mixes starting this month. Other than that I’m toying around with a few other ideas like a Patreon and will probably start a Twitter to go along with this Tumblr.

For now though I’ve got 2015@87 coming this week.

My Novation Twitch DJ controller decided to break while mixing up 2015@87. After nearly 4 years of use and abuse I’m pretty sad to see it go.

Ordered a new one, the Reloop Beatmix 2 Mk2 as it was on sale. It offers much of the same functionality though has jogwheels instead of a touchstrip.

Gonna be fun learning it while working on this year’s mix! Expect it to drop some time next week :)

2015@87 Announcement

With some 6 weeks left in 2015 I’m happy to announce that I’ll be doing a 2015@87 mix some time in December. I’ve been collecting tunes all year now and feel I got a killer tracklist covering the entire 87/174 bpm spectrum. From Liquid to Neuro, halftime Hip Hop inspired beats to full on Four on the Floor, it’ll feature over 50 tracks that stayed with me even after dozens of replays. Look for it in a few weeks :) For now have last year’s 2014@87.
