Me: (Spends half an hour on a twitter artists page reblogging a lot of their art, reading their replies, and enjoying their content.)
Also Me: Oh hey I bet some of my followers on tumblr will enjoy some of this! I should use the share feature so they can check out the rest of the artists stuff.
later
Some rando who hasn't been here long and doesn't know about my "ship and let ship"/"respect the lane" policies: "FYI [insert artist here] ships [insert ship name here]"
Me, who spent half an hour on the artists page and knows exactly what is there, knows they are also ship and let ship, are open about their shipping but also uses appropariate tags, and who also respects the lane:
In all seriousness though, unless a blog has clearly stated that they are turned off by, extremely uncomfortable with, or otherwise triggered by a type of content or any kind of specific ship or type of ship; sending this kind of thing to random people is unnecessary at best and disrespectful at worse as it makes massive assumptions about the person in question, their personal opinions, and comfort level with interacting with this kinda thing.
If you want to find out what a person's opinions on shipping or even a specific ship is, be respectful and ask them via an ask directly.
"How comfortable are you with X content?", "do you ship x/y?", "Can you specifically tag content that refers to X?", etc.
Use anon if you want to feel safe/comfortable while asking. Give time for a response (a few days to a week). If you get a response, make a decision based on the answer. If you don't get a response, then it's largely up to you what to do next.
I'm not going to change any of the content on my blog, whether thats to add or remove anything, in response to people who have no intent of directly and clearly communicating with me. Ask me directly. I don't deal with people who don't respect my intelligence.
