Vogue meets the influential Shiyin, one of the country’s leading exponents of Hanfu, a way of dressing that is rooted in Chinese tradition.
Vogue magazine mislabels Hanbok (Korean traditional outfit) as Chinese
China has been falsely claiming anything Korean (clothes, food, any and all Korean traditions, culture, history, etc) as Chinese.
It’s well known that China has been copying LITERALLY everything from Korea... Korean TV shows, movies, webtoon, music, fashion, etc.
But the Chinese government, media and their billion cyber misinformation army also have been spreading the LIE that all kinds of Korean traditions and culture, including the Korean traditional outfit Hanbok, are Chinese.
And this Chinese YouTuber called Shiyin has been at the forefront of falsely claiming Hanbok (Korean traditional outfit) as Chinese outfit ‘hanfu.’
Now Vogue magazine just uploaded the picture of this Shiyin person wearing Korean hanbok and called it Chinese ‘hanfu.’
Even when people have called out on the mistake, I’m sure Vogue will do nothing since China is one of their biggest markets and they’re busy licking China’s asshole.
Shame, Shame, Shame China and Vogue!!!
Hello, I really like your posts about hanfu. I'm glad to be able to learn this much about it. I wonder if you could answer 2 questions of mine. 1. Do you know of any other YouTube channels etc. that talk about hanfu / chinese culture, like Five thousand years or AvenueX.? 2. Is there a way to find all your posts/reblogs apart from your masterpost (since not everything is listed there). Any tags etc. like to different things. I'd really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance & have a good day!
Hi, glad you like my hanfu posts, and thanks for the questions!
1. To be honest, I can’t think of good English-language Youtube channels that talk about hanfu besides the ones you mentioned (Five Thousand Years and AvenueX). If you’re open to Chinese-language channels though, I highly recommend the following for hanfu-related content: 1) Shiyin (some of her videos have English subtitles), 2) 小豆蔻儿, and 3) 老八捌. If any followers have more recs, please share!
2. Besides my Q&A Masterpost Part 1 and Part 2 that compile all of my replies to asks, I also have the following pages that contain links to various posts and resources:
About page - a “hanfu 101″ with links to primers & masterlists; I suggest all newcomers to hanfu take a look at it
Tags page - has links to common & useful tags (this is what you’re looking for)
Where to Buy Hanfu page - has links to reference posts and shop tags
I recently updated these pages, so please check them out! (Note: you may need to be on desktop for the pages & links to work correctly).
Hope this helps! (image via)
