Vogue magazine mislabels Hanbok (Korean traditional outfit) as Chinese

China has been falsely claiming anything Korean (clothes, food, any and all Korean traditions, culture, history, etc) as Chinese.

It’s well known that China has been copying LITERALLY everything from Korea... Korean TV shows, movies, webtoon, music, fashion, etc. 

But the Chinese government, media and their billion cyber misinformation army  also have been spreading the LIE that all kinds of Korean traditions and culture, including the Korean traditional outfit Hanbok, are Chinese. 

And this Chinese YouTuber called Shiyin has been at the forefront of falsely claiming Hanbok (Korean traditional outfit) as Chinese outfit ‘hanfu.’ 

Now Vogue magazine just uploaded the picture of this Shiyin person wearing Korean hanbok and called it Chinese ‘hanfu.’ 

Even when people have called out on the mistake, I’m sure Vogue will do nothing since China is one of their biggest markets and they’re busy licking China’s asshole.

여고생의 군 위문 편지 파장이 크다. 우선 경멸과 조롱의 위문 편지를 쓴 진명여고 학생은 경솔했다. 학교에서 위문 편지 쓰라는 일에 아무리 반감이 들었다 하더라도, 행동이 지나쳤다. 경멸과 조롱은 익명을 향해서라도 던져서는 안 되는 돌이다. 인간은 누구나 자주 실수하고 실패한다. 학생은 이번 실수를 좋은 교훈으로 삼길 바란다.

이번 사태의 핵심 문제는 반강제적 위문 편지다. 학교에서는 위문 편지가 학생들의 자율적 선택임을 강조했으나, 봉사 활동 점수와 연계했다는 점에서 그 자율성은 별 설득력이 없다. 여고생에게 군 위문 편지를 쓰게 하는 것은 사회가 이들을 ‘성적(性的) 자원’으로 동원하는 행위다. ‘사회적 대의’라는 순수함으로 아무리 포장하더라도, 이 불편한 진실을 숨길 수 없다. 위문 편지 쓰기가 남고생들보다 여고생들에게 집중되어 있다는 사실이 이를 반증한다. 위문 편지가 은근한 방식의 ‘성적 동원’이라는 것을 진명여고 교사들도 알고 있었다. 위문 편지 가이드라인에 “개인 정보를 노출하면 심각한 피해를 볼 수 있으니 학번, 성명, 주소, 전화번호 등 기재 금지”라고 돼 있다. 위문 편지로 인해 학생들이 성적 위험에까지 처할 수 있음을 숙지하고 있었던 것이다. 실제 군인들로부터 성희롱과 스토킹을 당했다는 사례가 곳곳에서 보고되고 있다.

더군다나 여고생은 미성년자다. 미성년자의 성에 대해선 사회가 특별히 보호한다. 하지만 학교는 관행의 이름으로, 학생들을 성적 불쾌감을 느끼는 자리에 밀어 넣었다. 지금의 성인지 감수성 기준으로 보면, 이 역시 성적 괴롭힘이다. 학생이 편지에 조롱을 담은 것은 그 불쾌감에 대한 반발이었을 것이다.

위문 편지 하나 가지고 뭐 그리 빡빡하게 따지냐고? 이렇게 말하는 사람이 있다면 그들은 회식 자리에서 부장 옆에 여직원 앉히는 걸 보고도 아무 문제 의식이 없을 것이다. 많은 남자들은 어디서든 ‘조직의 꽃’이 되길 요구받는 여자들의 불쾌함을 이해하지 못한다. 왜 우리는 아직도 여성의 성적 존엄과 주체성에 대해 숙고하지 못하는가.

위문 편지 논란이 불거지자, 남초 사이트에서는 여학생의 신상 정보를 털고 온갖 디지털 성폭력을 가하고 있다. 하지만 학생을 보호해야 할 학교는 팔짱을 끼고 있다. 대신 “위문 편지의 취지와 의미가 퇴색되어 유감이며, 장병 위문의 다양한 방안을 강구하겠다”며 문제의 본질을 비켜간 한심한 입장문만 냈다. 보다 못한 전교조가 나서 “학교는 비교육적이고 무책임하고 무능하다”고 비난의 목소리를 높인 뒤 “위문 편지를 당장 중단하라”고 요구했다.

목동의 한 학원장은 진명여고 학생들 모두를 퇴원 조치하고, 앞으로 이 학교 학생들을 받지 않겠다고 흥분했다. 그가 제대로 된 어른이라면, 학생의 실수에 분노하기 전에 위문 편지의 퇴행성에 대해 한 번쯤 숙고했어야 마땅하다. 그리고 학생을 배제와 혐오의 방식으로 공격하는 게 사교육 종사자로 온당한 태도인가.

공동체를 위해 인생의 가장 소중한 시간을 희생하는 군인들에 대해 사회는 언제나 채무 의식을 느끼고 최대한 예우해야 한다. 하지만 여고생 위문 편지 같은 퇴행적 문화는, 오히려 군 복무의 도덕적 가치를 훼손시킬 뿐이다. 빗나간 방식의 ‘가짜 위로’는 그들의 숭고한 희생을 퇴색시킬 뿐, 누구에게도 도움이 되지 않는다. 국방부가 나설 때다. 앞으로 반시대적인 위문 편지 받지 않겠다고 하라.

I had a horrifying thought today. I said to myself “I need to stop going outside so much to prepare for Korea in February.”

Why? Because I’m too tan to blend in. Korea’s beauty standard of having a pale complexion is so unnatural and toxic and I hate that my mind wants to naturally cave to it.

I have natural olive skin, I’ve lived in Hawaii for three years now… I’m pretty tan to the point most people think I’m Japanese.

Koreans are tan too. Kpop stars are the beauty standard and not what’s natural.

There’s a huge vitamin D deficiency in Korea. WHY? Korea has such beautiful weather. GO OUTSIDE.

Also their massive selections on skin lighteners. I think this is a trend in most of Asia tbh.

I see it with Taehyung as well, he has natural olive skin like me but is constantly white washed.

And of course:

I never found these pictures cute or funny, it just made me sad.

Because I know first hand how horrible Koreans are to darker skinned people (not all obviously) and how fearful they are of getting too tan.

I know this stems from if you are tanner you are poorer and a lower class citizen because it means you work outside, on a farm, fishing, fieldwork.

The paler you are the more rich and desirable you are because you don’t work at all or work in an office.

Look at Lisa from Blackpink. Or BamBam. Both Thai and naturally tan but have been so white washed and have had so many plastic surgeries (come for me I don’t care Lisa has had a lot of work done. A South Korean politician has sparked outrage after he scolded an unmarried female professor and nominee for 'failing to fulfill her duty to the nation' by not having a child.

Jeong Kab-yoon, a veteran member of the conservative opposition Liberty Party Korea, was criticised after suggesting Joh Sung-wook, a nominee to the country's antitrust body, had focused on her career instead of raising a baby.  

'You're not married yet, are you?,' Jeong asked at a confirmation hearing to lead the commission, according to Yonhap News Agency.

'The biggest problem in South Korea is that (women) are not giving birth,' he was quoted as saying. 'You would have been a perfect nominee, if you have had such qualification.'

'You have a great résumé but please fulfil your duties to the nation,' he added.

Jeong was chastised by other politicians at the hearing and has since apologised to Joh, claiming he only wanted to highlight the country's plummeting birthrate.

Womens' rights groups condemned Jeong's remarks and said he should be disciplined by parliament.

'Making remarks about marriage and birth to a nominee based on a gender at a confirmation hearing is an outright sexual discrimination during a hiring process and a serious violation of women's civil and labor rights,' the Korean Women's Association United said in a statement.

South Korea, Asia's fourth-largest economy, is grappling with a chronically low birthrate as many women are reluctant to have babies.

Families are putting off having children, citing rising the costs of raising kids coupled with long working hours making it difficult for parents to find a balance.

To boost the country's birthrate - the world's lowest - the government has poured billions of dollars into various subsidies for families and children from birth through university and beyond.

South Korea's total fertility rate, an average number of children a woman will have in her life, dropped to a record low of 0.98 in 2018, according to data from Statistics Korea.

성폭력 범죄를 저지른 공무원이 매년 400명에 달하는 것으로 나타났다. 그 가운데서도 경찰 공무원이 가장 많은 인원을 차지했고, 기관별 인원수 대비 비율로 따졌을 때는 교육부 소속이 가장 많았다.

23일 행정안전위원회 소속 한병도 더불어민주당 의원이 경찰청으로부터 제출받은 자료에 따르면 지난 4년간 성범죄로 검거된 공무원 수가 매해 400명 안팎에서 줄지 않는 것으로 확인됐다. 

2017년 400명, 2018년 395명, 2019년 412명, 2020년 392명의 공무원이 강간·강제추행, 카메라 등 이용촬영, 통신매체이용음란, 성적 목적 공공장소 침입 등의 성폭력 범죄로 검거됐다.

기관별로 보면 경찰 공무원이 매년 가장 많았다. 지난 4년간 성범죄로 검거된 경찰은 2017년 50명, 2018년 70명, 2019년 66명, 지난해 76명으로 게다가 증가하는 조짐을 보인다. 전체 인원수가 다른 기관에 비해 많은 탓도 있지만 법의 수호자로서 직접 범법의 터가 되고 있다는 점에서 비난을 피하긴 어려워 보인다. 경찰청을 제외하고는 서울시(31명), 소방청(22명), 경기도(21명), 경기도교육청(18명), 과학기술정통부(15명), 법무부(13명), 교육부(12명) 순이었다.

기관별 인원수 대비로 따졌을 때는 교육부 공무원 비율이 가장 높았다. 교육부 소속으로 지난해 기준 전체 7388명 가운데 12명(0.16%)이 성범죄로 붙잡혔다. 교육부 외에도 경기도교육청(1만3613 중 18명, 0.13%), 인천시교육청(3428명 중 4명, 0.11%), 서울시교육청(7519명 중 7명, 0.09%) 등 교육 공무원의 비율이 높게 나타났다. 다음으로 광주광역시(7377명 중 6명, 0.08%), 서울시(4만5826명 중 31명, 0.06%), 전라북도(1만5639명 중 9명, 0.057%) 법무부(2만3215명 중 13명, 0.055%), 경찰청(13만8764명 중 76명, 0.054%), 경상남도(2만2056명 중 12명, 0.054%) 순이었다.

성범죄로 검거된 공무원 대부분은 강간·강제추행 혐의에 의한 것이었다. 대신 통신매체이용음란 범죄가 눈에 띠게 느는 추세였다. 지난해 검거된 392명 가운데 강간·강제추행 혐의 피의자는 309명에 달했다. 그 외 카메라 등 이용촬영은 56명, 성적 목적 공공장소 침입은 13명이었다. 특히 통신매체이용음란 범죄는 2017년 4건, 2018년 6건, 2019년 5건 등 한 자릿수를 유지하다가 지난해 14건으로 늘었다. 카메라 등 이용촬영 범죄 경우 2017년 50건, 2018년 40건, 2019년 56건이었다.

공무원 외 전문직군별 성범죄 피의자 입건 현황에서는 지난 3년간 기타전문직으로 분류된 인원을 제외하고는 의사(한의사 포함)가 가장 많았다. 지난해 기준 기타전문직(713명), 의사(155명), 종교가(115명), 예술인(78명), 언론인(21명), 교수(18명), 변호사(13명) 순으로 집계됐다. 이들 역시 범죄별로는 강간·강제추행(925명)이 가장 많았고 카메라 등 이용촬영(153명), 통신매체이용음란(26명), 성적 목적 공공장소 침입(9명)이 뒤를 이었다.

한병도 의원은 “경찰청과 교육부 소속 공무원은 누구보다 높은 윤리의식을 가져야 함에도 불구하고, 오히려 더 많은 성범죄를 저지르고 있다”며 “각 부처는 소속 공무원의 성범죄가 반복되지 않도록 철저한 내부 교육과 엄격한 징계 등의 대책을 마련해야 할 것”이라고 밝혔다.
