ok i found this couplet while tutoring my brother yesterday in sanskrit (yes i know) and i would just like to shove it in anyone’s face who thinks the arts shouldn’t be funded :
साहित्यसङ्गीतकलाविहीनःसाक्षात्पशुः पुच्छविषाणहीनः।तृणं न खादन्नपि जीवमानःतद्भागधेयं परमं पशूनाम्॥॥
lit. “One who does not know or appreciate Saahitya (literature and poetry), Sangeet (music) or Kalaa (talent in the arts) is an animal in the form of a human, lacking horns and tail. Such a person is condemned to not even be able to eat grass like a common animal, and that is the fate of all such beings.”
so basically this states that FUCK ALL YOU HATERS (i’m looking at you asian parents - those who support the arts, i love you you guys are awesome and those who still think that only math and science exist - WAKE UP!!!)
