Keep Calling EP by Flora

If you’re looking for a relaxing vibe to add to your summer playlist that also brings in a hint of power, Flora’s new EP Keep Calling is the perfect place to look. The opening track of the same name, the first song Flora ever recorded, maintains a breezy energy throughout. With uplifting and gentle synths, it establishes a warm invitation to the entire EP. It is followed by a continually relaxed vibe throughout the rest of the tracks but each set of lyrics has its own tone. “No One Asked” is a defiant turn immediately after “Keep Calling” that creates a carefree, independent image for the singer, even in her calm approach. In “Magic Eraser,” Flora maintains the ethereal and tranquil motif as she brings back in her whispery vocals that ultimately slow the pace of the entire song despite the backtracking keeping a forward motion. It’s almost as if her lyrics are her “Magic Eraser” to “turn back the hands of time” that are pushing the song forward. The relaxed tones of the rock lullaby that is “Keep Calling” fall away to a cleaner, percussive sound in the final two tracks “Lightning In a Bottle” and “Better Off Alone.” Together these tracks assemble a calm self-reliant image, one that every 13-year-old girl should be able to have, and one that Flora has claimed as her own. 💚
