I have a confession to make... . . I stopped washing my hair 🤨 😝 before you scroll away, let me add it’s been one of the most transformative revelations on my path to a self-loving life. Sounds nuts eh!? . . I use to think I had to wash my hair everyday and the whole process from start to finish took approx 30 minutes outta my day. . . I stopped washing my hair purely out of sheer experimentation 🧐 To see if the Curly Girl hair method would work for greasy-dried-out-limp-hair-that-lacked-luster.... . . Turns out-It does!! . . Seriously, my hair has never been healthier, has never had so much shine & pizazz aaaand it has saved me hours in my week! . . I’m talking like a half hour of time a day I have gained back. I won’t go into the gory details but that’s 3.5 hours a week! 😂 . . Might sound minuscule buuuut as a mom to 4, managing a household and a flourishing business, I need all the extra snippets of time I can find! . . Here’s what I did: 1. I stopped using shampoo 2. I only ‘washed’ with a huge gob of conditioner. Really massage it in 3. Hardly wash any of it out 4. Towel, then Air dry 5. Use DIY dry shampoo to soak up scalp grease 6. Massage my scalp with a natural bristle (boar) brush everyday, morning & night. *DIY shampoo recipe in the next post* . . I wanted to clear up some common misconceptions regarding any persons wanting to use essential oils safely & effectively. . This is what I have come to learn in the last 5+ years as an acting provisional aromatherapist- Certified Aromatherapists (CA’s) are taught to always err on the side of an extremely conservative cautionary side because the recommendations they make are to take in to account all of the different brands and qualities (or lack there of) of essentials oils the general public has access to. CA’s typically find a brand or two or three that they ‘trust’ and use often with their clients but they often discover all of the brands they buy offer no legit consistency, company practice transparency or any solid evidence of strict sourcing or testing practices. In the last 2-3 years, essential oils have busted on to the mainstream scene because of grass root, landmark studies being done by the new kids in town, dōTERRA. No essential oil company in the world has ever done or is currently doing what doterra is doing for the essential oil industry. . The thing people may not know about the essential oil industry is that there is no body, as in no governing body that is regulating the quality control, sourcing etc, nor do any regulations have to be adhered to by ANY essential oil company/brand... ANYbody can slap ‘100% pure’ or ‘organic’ on a bottle of oil and sell it to a mom who is looking for a simple but effective natural solution, have it be lavender eo, for her 3 month old babe with a suspected viral infection and that ‘essential oil’ will likely be from the super dirty eo industry that is approx 80% from who knows where, from who knows who & made with who knows what and sold to who knows who or made in a lab by a human... get the idea?! That is why a CA has been trained to always err on the side of caution which, in my experience, appears to present itself as a fear mongering culture that leads people to believe that not just anybody can learn what they’ve learned with their certification. Which is simply not the case. .
