The NEW WAVE of SHOPPING!
By Alycia Dalfonsi.
Do you relate with Rebecca Bloomwood of confessions of a shopaholic?
Are you constantly changing your style and aesthetics?
Are you looking for a place where you can ethically shop and get a good bang for your buck?
WELL today we are bringing you a little article about a new and upcoming store that has just launched out of Toronto, Canada!
You may have heard of us before if you have read AMAIZE previously, but if you have not, we are two of the three founders of this online mag, Tahreem and Alycia. Earlier last month we finally got the opportunity to launch a project we have been thinking about for quite some time!
We gathered up our materials, headed to handfuls of vintage and thrift shops around the city, carried countless bags through bustling subway rides, and spent nights up-cycling and painting our items to some old JB tracks, to bring you all our new project, GIDA!
GIDA is an online vintage and thrift retailer based out of Toronto, Canada. It carries a wide range of items that reflect the style of the past as well as staying true to whats in the now. We use our love for modern design techniques to brand our shop and juxtapose the vintage and old-feel aesthetics we want to bring to you all through our clothes!
We know how hard it is to head into a thrift/vintage shop and find what you want or need. We have personally walked out of a thrift/vintage shop in disappointment because we couldn’t find that winning item. We wanted to create a space where our love for thrifting and vintage finds could live in one perfectly organized area, where finding something amazing to suit your taste would be SO much easier. (also you wouldn’t even have to leave your bedroom)
Shop GIDA is an affordable and easily accessible place to feed your vintage cravings. We strive to find you all the most WOW pieces that would fit whatever look you are trying to achieve without breaking the bank.
Not only do we believe in the fun of thrifting but we also believe in the benefits it has on the environment. It is said that more than 13.1 Million tons of textile waste is produced EACH YEAR, which means perfectly good clothing and materials are being left in our landfills when they could instead, have a home in your closet. We know that fashion and style is a recyclable fad. Trends are always changing and your style is always evolving but that does not mean that we need to put our old favs to rest in a place they don’t belong. Thrifting allows us to recycle clothes and keep them out of landfills which will then reduce the impact of textile waste we make!
Pretty cool if we say so ourselves!
