The Story of David - A script of many problems...
So there is an old script, that we partially filmed, but never completed. It’s a Story of David, originally written by Ashley Walsh, and adapted by an old friend and I.
It was never finished because of lack of shots we got, the fact that, I stepped back as a Producer and didn’t direct the film, there were endless delays, we never got enough coverage, and when it got round to editing, The Editor complained there wasn’t enough footage and The Director cancelled the film all together.
There was a bunch of personal issues that were also happening at this same time but that didn’t help the film.
The script is also written like a novel and not enough like a script. There’s not stage direction, the actors would know how to emote with a Director spelling it out. It’s also got minimal dialogue and these characters aren’t very fleshed out. It’s a short script and would only fit a three to four min run time at most.
It’s a challenge I would happily redo myself, but the script needs rewriting to fit a film script, and more dialogue needs to be inserted in there, and direction.
Or maybe it’s better sat in my drawer, until all those personal messy feelings about what happened in this project go away. It Could have been a masterpiece who knows, but it needed more work and a genre and direction. it needed a lot of work.
It’s one of those for another day scripts... one day its story will be told, but not today...

Well that's the first draft of the shot-list complete. We got advised to do that first to make the analysis easier for us to do. But I got to make sure that the shots I've noted are corrected and that I haven't missed anything. Great. Plus I need to check the word count since I only have 1200 words for my shot-list and my analysis. Seriously? Is that all I get? Anyhow I forgot how annoying doing a shot-list actually was, is this going to be a regular thing with my course? Damn.
I don't know where to start on my analysis though, and that kind of sucks since it has to be completed and handed in by next Wednesday. Arghh, this sucks. I'm one element down and I have one to go. It's times like this that I wish I didn't work weekends, while everyone else has the weekend free to complete their work, I have to go to work and use any free time to do my assignment. Damn kids having lots of parties at the weekends.
