Kerry thanks Egyptian people for hard work in transitioning to democracy
In a joint press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Shoukry, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry thanked Egyptians for their hard work in building a democratic Egypt.
"I want to thank the people of Egypt for their hard work in transitioning to a democracy through their election and in making difficult choices with respect to their economy and the future today," Kerry said.
The remarks were made after a meeting between Kerry, Shoukry, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and the Arab League Secretary General. The four leaders met to discuss how to pressure Hamas to accept the Egyptian-led cease fire to the Gaza crisis.
Kerry also thanked the Egyptian people for their support of Sisi in his effort to find a peaceful ending to the conflict in Gaza.
