SHOW PREVIEW: STARS ON ICE AT ROGERS ARENA ON MAY 18TH

It’s a family-friendly event each year, when the Investors Group Stars on Ice Tour makes its cross-Canada run. Offering figure skating fans across the country an opportunity to watch their favourite athletes perform exciting routines, both individually and as an ensemble, the tour is one of its kind! This year’s Vancouver date returns to Rogers Arena on Thursday, May 18th. 

The cast is always phenomenal, but for the first time, 2017 will showcase the three greatest Canadian Men’s figure skaters on-tour together – Kurt Browning, Patrick Chan, and Elvis Stojko. Collective, the three champions have reached the Olympic podium three times, and achieved gold at Worlds ten times. You won’t want to miss the spectacular performances that these skaters have to offer! 

Katelyn Osmond, who is having a fine return to figure skating following an injury in 2014, is the current Canadian Champion. She captured Silver at the World Championships this past April, where tour mate Gabrielle Daleman achieved Bronze. It was the first time Canada has had two women on the podium at the event, and speaks volumes to the talent that our country has, and will offer in the coming years. Finally, Lubov Iliushechkina and Dylan Moscovitch round out the group; the pair won Bronze at Four Continents in February.

This year, the skaters will perform choreographed numbers to music by popular artists of today, Demi Lovato, Maroon 5 and Justin Timberlake, as well as Barbra Steisand, Jimmy Scott and Tom Jones, showing the immense diversity of the cast’s performances. Always a fun, interactive and sensational showcase of talent, Stars on Ice is an event that individuals (or groups) of all-ages can enjoy!

I’ll be performing from 7:30p-10:00p in Seattle at Spinnaker Bay Brewing on Saturday June, 11th, in the Columbia City neighborhood. I love to sing to familiar and unfamiliar faces. CONCERT ALERT: THE ASHLEY HUNDRED BRING FOLK FLAIR TO THE MATADOR

Ambient acoustic-folk Calgary band The Ashley Hundred will be hitting Vancouver on their western Canadian tour in support of their latest release, Split. The group will be joined by dream pop solo artist Jody Glenham, art rock trio Alea Rae, and folk punk duo Tinkin' Pete.

Jody has been releasing EPs since 2009: her latest endeavour includes a stop at the Texas music and multimedia festival, South by Southwest. Alea Rae are fresh off a 2015 western Canada tour: they are currently recording their debut LP.

Tinkin Pete, composed of Kelly McLeod and Kaya Noyes, can be found on various punk show bills in Vancouver on a regular basis. Their latest EP was released in July of 2015.

The show takes place this Thursday, March 24th, commencing at 8 PM at The Matador. Admission is $5, or based on a pay-what-you-can scale. For further information and to RSVP, visit the Facebook event page.

CONCERT ALERT: LADY LAMB AT THE ELECTRIC OWL

Her sophomore album follows her well-received 2013 debut effort, Ripely Pine. The stop in Vancouver comes in the latter part of her North American tour, which runs through mid-May. 

She will be joined by Rathborne, fronted by fellow Maine native Luke Rathborne. The New York-based indie punk group released their debut album, SOFT, in 2013.
