from which to look ahead is really nice and i loved the consistent pace of your writing. i needed to tell you how much i loved this line, 'the phantom outlines of childhood ghosts'. i think i felt it somewhere inside my ribcage

my writing has a consistent pace? you don’t know how great it is to hear that, friend, because fwtla was written over a timespan of something like five months in little notes in my math notebook and bouts of inspiration, so it feels to me like it’s all very uneven and inconsistent.

after a day of Kung Fu Panda marathon and sleeping and trying not to get too sick i am more than thrilled to be tagged by shredsofhappiness. Finally sth fun to do yippee!

1. do you like to be alone or with friends?

3. why do you like the genre(s)? (i’m under the belief that people like certain music coz they can connect with it)

4. if you have the chance to observe people without them complaining, what would you pay most attention to?

5. do you want to grow up or remain at your current age for all eternity?

6. is there anything that you want oh so terribly to do before you shrivel up and wilt?

7. do you feel comfortable staying home all day by yourself?

1. when you look at the stars what do you think about?

first thought: SO PRETTY (usually accompanied by a huge grin + songs about stars)

second thought: i wonder if there are other people who’s looking at the same stars.

2. if time stopped right now and everyone froze, and you have the power to unfreeze one person, what would you do?

i’d probably take good long looks at everybody and try to take all the details in, i might spent most of the time looking into people’s eyes.

3. do you have a person you consider your mentor or someone who has helped you grow in life?

yeh a friend taught me to love myself more and to be more verbal about what i want/think, i don’t even know where to start if i am to talk about what the person’s helped me through

4. do you believe in true love?

yep but it’s really really hard to devote yourself entirely into such a relationship imo, takes a lot of trust and persistence 

5. where do you see yourself in 10 years?

hopefully doing the things i want to do, and still stay happy and silly most of the time with a #yolo mindset 

and hopefully i’d still be very much in touch with my friends :)

6. what is a mistake you regret the most

it’s not exactly a mistake tbh, it’s more like some sort of unchangeable fate. Like during my public exams, I’d often think of how I’m climbing up mountains of dead bodies just to get into a university program i desire. It’s so cruel and unnecessary, yet it’s what we all have to deal with because the society decided that. I’d feel so guilty doing that since the majority placed a lot of effort into their studies, and it’s not like they are incapable, they just got caught in the waves and had trouble returning to the shores *sigh*

7. I have over four bookcases of books, should I alphabetise them or colour-coordinate them

colour-coordinate them, i envisioned the end results to be way prettier than having them arranged in alphabetical order

8. are you a morning person?

definitely not, but if i have got to wake up early, i’d take a nice long shower to perk myself up :D

9. do you feel comfortable walking alone in a part of town you’ve never been in daylight?

if i have my headphones on and music blasting, then i suppose so (but i’d be speed-walking coz i don’t like to wander around)

10. what is your normal sunday routine

wake up late and stay home all day, watch movies/youtube, read, take long slow scrolls in tumblr, constantly refresh my social media accounts because new stuff will miraculously appear and i won’t be as bored

11. what are you afraid of?

my own overthinking, and the feeling of not being cared for by the ones i care about, slight fear of insects i think?

sadly im a very boring person so idk if these are really books that influenced me (not in any particular order)

five people you meet in heaven/tuesdays with morrie and Mitch's other books, really.(I swear mitch albom has influenced me so much it's ridiculous)

a series of fiction that goes by "Charm club" -- it's dumb, but it did influence me somehow haha

omf I just want to scream at you because you've been so terrible in so many ways that I can't describe lmao but hey, look at me rn and you'll be proud how much you've changed. Stubborn? yeah, still but at least you've learnt how to compromise and be less self centered. also please work harder on your studies, it'll be worth it, trust me. Please take ICT instead of physics, it doesn't really matter what subjects you have on your report card, all that matters is the grade.

I want to scream at you for being so inconsiderate towards your cousin. I want to scream at you for being too bossy during primary 6. I want to scream at you for burying yourself in a book and hardly socializing. But I'm also proud of you for opening yourself up I'm proud of you being able to decide on the paths that you want to take and I'm proud of you for many many other things that I don't think I can list them out. You've been strong, and I'm very proud of that.

Don't give up too soon. You're going to find someone that you trust, someone that you support and in turn, supports you as well when you're in the dumps. Someone really cares about you out there and the present me can tell you that with utter confidence, even though that someone can be miles and miles away from you.

idk where you and the gang are at atm but breathes in please don't be a repeat version of past me or else I'll cry form 6 is going to be hard and you'll be getting a lot of pressure from it but please. work hard. don't let yourself regret over it. tests and exams are going to run past you like a gust of wind you'll start to actually get numb over all your scores the feeling is ridiculous but have faith in yourself study hard and you'll be able to get good gradesalsoo this is optional but please avenge for my eng grades I only got a 5* this year >->o

that was the most interesting thing i've read all day (all week, even!). i don't think it sounded /too/ patronising and i do appreciate when you explain/introduce the technical terms. as for the /l/ thing, i thought it was just people getting lazier and lazier and cba to move their tongues right. it irritates me a little when dan said phiw instead of phil, tbh. (now i can say i've learn something in the summer yay)

Okay, next post is gonna be on prescriptivism. That'll happen in the next day or two. Thank you for the inspiration there!

As for the patronising thing... My sister thinks I'm hideously irritating whenever I'm happy. I get overenthusiastic and use lots of hand gestures and generally geek out a lot. I kind of think if I were doing these as video lectures, everyone would just be like 'aw, look at the silly little thing getting so excited about her subject', but if I write down the exact words I would actually say aloud, it just sounds like I'm being condescending. Not sure how to solve that problem. :/
