blood rushes towards her face, heating up behind her skin and attempting to protect her from the blistering cold. it’s a terrible time to pick a fight, even if she has been conditioned to fight in every possible situation. even if natural disasters such as tsunamis came barging through the streets, she would still make an attempt to raise her katana high and strike. yet there was something different, infuriatingly so, about the seasonal change that placed her at a disadvantage. it must have been because of the frost that was embedding itself into her dominant hand, preventing her from being able to properly concentrate on said fight. she shivers softly, changes her grip on the weapon. her skin is splitting because of the temperatures— perhaps she had never properly adapted to the drop of temperature in the prime of winter.
of course, winter was a wonderful thing besides the weakness it cruelly dealt out to sumire. the specks of snow that dropped from the heavens, built up over the hard ground with hell only metres beneath. most are joyful in winter. at least, that’s what sumi has concluded in the past. but the months have not been kind to those involved in jujutsu. the shibuya incident, followed by the culling games, have ripped apart any sanity that those remaining could have and placed them in the worst scenario possible. nobody can do a thing about it. the only thing left to do is wait for the inevitable.
❝ mhm… it’s cold. ❞ she’s not sure if @shrinebled heard her words. it didn’t matter. nothing else could be said about the topic apart from maybe a hint of agreement, but she doubted that kaori would agree with her. after all, they were enemies. maybe a small amount of mercy would be granted (for the both of them), and they would decide to continue the battle in the sweet warmth that buildings only metres away possess. it all depended on the opponent. but the concept doesn’t make sense. if she’s meant to harbour the chaotic nature of war, should she not be more powerful in the colder months? she supposes it’s remnants of her human nature seeping through. ❝ we should go inside. get some coffee… ❞
