In the Undertale universe, Shrubby's parents were some of the few monsters that were never caught and sent into Mt Ebott. A couple hundred years later, she was born into the world. She is a boss monster, which is why she lives so long. Honorable mentions/headcanons: Mothman, Big Foot, The Lochness Monster are all Surface Monsters, previously classified as Cryptids

7. What’s their “type”? What romantically attracts them to another person? Shrubby is very animalistic so she’s more likely to accept courting by a flashy character. Colorful and/or shiny is the quickest way to catch her attention. If she were more human, she’d be drawn towards somebody with a lot of patience and a protective personality because she’s wild enough to drive someone up a wall and physically very fragile.

14. Who do they go to in a crisis/emergency? Any particular reason why they choose that person? The Doctor will always be her #1 go to for an emergency, because he’s proven he’s trustworthy and she’s also aware enough to know he has resources she could never get in her natural habitat. But if he isn’t around, she has her good friend Mr. Twig (aka The Stilt Walker) that she wouldn't hesitate to go to. Despite his slightly horrific appearance, he’s a gentle giant and in the past whenever she’s broken a bone (which happens very frequently), she’d go and hang around him and he’d watch over her until she was healed enough to be on her own again. In turn, she helps pick off the parasites and invasive plants that grow on his body before they can cause any issues. Their friendship is actually very sweet.

36. Do they trust easily? What would you have to do to earn their trust? This is a bit of a tricky question. She’s got this ability to sense intent from people so if they feel shady enough they likely won’t ever even see her. But if she doesn’t feel threatened, it doesn’t take much to earn her trust. A couple of gifts and treats and she’s basically wrapped around your finger. Just watch where you tread, it's still pretty easy to spook her off.
