☾ ☆ ☆ [AKI-CHAN] - You're not a waste of space
She honestly didn't how to react to this.
Yukio sounded so sure he was going to survive this, like all the other situations he survived. She was confident in him, but she knew, anyone who goes past the exit with a chain around their neck didn't survive. She had watched so many people's lives come to an end, Hikari, Ai, Alter Ego Shuu and finally..Yukio. They were just teenagers, yet their lives ended so quickly, they were so young.
After the screen turned back, there was a moment of silence. She quietly mourned for Yukio as she turned her back towards the others, feeling her messy, curly hair fall into place. She heard Monobear hop in front of them, talking about new areas and then leaving. She didn't look at anyone as she walked out of the trial room and back into the lodge area. Monobear was right, there appeared to be another open location near the lodge. She paused, heading into the lodge.
She entered the kitchen area, pulling out an array of cabinets until she found it-- a pile of scissors. She took one, holding it close to her body as Karin walked into her room, her footsteps were the only sounds she heard. Opening the door, she entered and didn't close it all the way when she turned to shut it. It would be open to anyone who wanted to talk to her. She stepped over to her dresser, facing herself in the mirror.
With a hesitant hand, she pulled open a drawer in her dresser, revealing her dad's gift to her. A small whisper escaped her mouth as she gazed at the jewelry box. "Monobear, you already took my most important person away." There was no point in taking the earrings, but nether less she was glad she had it back in her hands. She placed the scissors on the dresser top, looking down at her makeup bag.
She took out her makeup wipes, unwrapping them and wiping her entire face. Off was the eyeliner, off was the waterproof mascara, the powder and eye shadow. Karin hadn't put on makeup in a while, but today felt like a good time. False. Her makeup-less face felt weird, but she liked it. It was her skin and she was free.
Her hands glided over the metal surface of the pair of scissors, finally she fitted them in her hands and lifted it up. With one swift motion, she tugged off the pink ribbon out of her hair, moving aside her bangs with a bobby pin as she took a deep breathe.
Snip. Her hair flew in different directions as she felt the weight of her hair drop. It was a terrible job, but hey, she was doing this alone, she wasn't a SHSL Hairstylist. Snip. Another chunk of her hair fell to the ground as she took another shaky breath. She looked at herself in the mirror, one side of her hair choppy and un-even, the other side in perfect curls. She didn't realize it earlier, but she was crying.
Karin was weeping, but she didn't know who she was crying for or to. She guessed the reason why she was sobbing right now was for her own sake. She went right back to work, cutting off the other side of her hair with gentle tugs. She stood there, covered in stray hairs as she gazed at her reflection.
Her hair was as short as back then, it hovered over her shoulders in jagged layers. Karin set the scissors down at the exact same spot, feeling the ends of her hair. She stood there, absolutely silent..then the corners of her mouth lifted up as she smiled.
Karin was about to leave when she heard someone knock on the door, she didn't know how long ago this person knocked, but Karin felt herself come back to Earth. "C-come in." She said, forgetting the loose hairs that surrounded her feet on the ground and her incredibly terrible haircut.
