“I know I don’t belong at UA, someone like me doesn’t really deserve the chance to be in such a prestigious hero course.” He can feel his fingers curling inwards, forming tight fists that hang at his sides like stones in water. “I can get why someone would think that I’m simply just here to spread info back to villains but let’s get one thing straight; I’d rather die than betray the trust of everyone at UA. I want to be a hero, got that?”

At the vehement refusal, Hanta blows a loud raspberry, shoulders slumping down heavily. He had gotten the thing at an antique market, it had been priced down so heavily that the college student manning the stall had practically begged Hanta to take it when he showed even an ounce of interest in the thing. He wasn't really a believer in spirits, let alone vengeful ones that would somehow be compelled to answer to a wooden board, but it was dirt cheap and sounded like fun. So, of course, he had to make use of such a great deal!

And of course, he would never turn down the opportunity to mess with his friends.

The hard part, as seen above, would be convincing the other to join. He couldn't use the same tactics as he would with Bakugou, poking at his somewhat fragile braggadocio and easy tells, but considering they're childhood friends there must be some sort of similarities shared between them that Hanta could utilize. Midoriya was pretty susceptible to teasing just like Blasty, and (no offense) seemed kinda touchy about ✰ friendship✰ in a way that usually betrayed his better judgements. Just look at half the things Midoriya gets up to when left alone for long enough with even a minor issue, the proof was in the green-haired pudding.

So, Hanta sighs, a small and pitiful huff of air, and drops his head down like a dejected creature. "Ah, that's fine. I've always wanted to try one of these and no one else wanted to. Not even Denki or Roki! But it's fine."

He glances up, mostly to gauge if his fabricated sob story was working. "I guess it was a silly idea anyways, sorry to bother you, Midoriya."

At first nothing seems amiss, Hanta comes through the front doors of the dorm building and he smiles and waves at Shuzenji as he passes by. On a second glance though, he is absolutely covered in knicks and scrapes down his arms. His hands are scuffed up, the knuckles bleeding and even his face has a few scratches along the bridge of his nose and his cheeks.

He saunters right into the kitchen and begins rummaging around in the fridge for a few moments before he pops his head back out and fixes her with an exasperated but still very happy look. "Ok, fess up, did you drink my yakult? I was saving that."

Training that day had been a breeze for Hanta. The cityscape was always an easy terrain to traverse for him, and swinging around, making sharp turns in the air to avoid being caught all while collecting "civilians" almost came second nature. When training had ended, Hanta barely felt winded, a slight burn in his limbs from hauling his weight around, sure, but that was nothing compared to how dead he felt after a regular day of practical work.

Lifting up the visor to take a sip from his water bottle, he quirked a brow at Midoriya, head tilting with the motion. "Race you?"

In all fairness, he probably would have agreed regardless. He loved the feeling of racing through the air, and he was inclined to help out a classmate if they ever needed his assistance, whether it be something simple like holding their bags for them at the mall, or more straining like helping with quirk endurance. The puppy look only made the easy decision easier- a casual roll of his shoulders into a lazy shrug accompanies his voice.

"Course man, I don't see why not. We can go a few laps around this city, unless you've got a spot picked out already."

There’s something about living next door to someone that brings about a certain connection, you always run into each other in the hall, you usually know when the other is in or out. You learn their music taste, you figure out a vague structure of their schedule. It was something that just happened when all that was separating the two of you is a wall. Pair that with the fact that you literally go to school with them almost every day, it’s no wonder that you become somewhat friends. And when your name is Sero Hanta and you are an overly friendly bastard, well, it’s no surprise at all.

Sero silently rolled around in his hammock, tossing a pillow out of his way and onto the ground below as he searched for his phone. He was bored, he needed to get out and do something. He can’t help but glance at the wall connecting him with Todoroki, his fingers making purchase on the cool glass of his phone screen, before he can even think it through, he’s typing away a text.

He shifts once again in his hammock, this time moving to a half sitting up position and fully staring at the wall as he glances at his phone every once and a while to see if anything else interesting is happening. Maybe Mina set the kitchen on fire again, or perhaps Shouji got stuck trying to get Tokoyami out of the air vents again.
