If you thought those old 5 1/4-inch floppy disks were cumbersome check out these 8-inch #floppies! When floppy disks were developed in the late 60s the 8-inch #diskette was the norm until #Shugart Associates (the company that made the #disks pictured here) developed the 5 1/4-inch floppy in 1976. Shugart Associates was later acquired by #Xerox and the company’s founder, Al Shugart, went on to found another data storage company called Shugart Technolgy. However in order to avoid a lawsuit with Xerox the company name was soon changed to @Seagate Technology, today one of the largest data storage companies in the world.
