Hi Poppy! I sadly haven't been into the SnK/JeanMarco fandom as of late. I feel like it's died down quite a bit recently. I'm still waiting for my favorite fics to update, but I know so many people are busy right now. And I'm also hoping that once the second season of SnK airs, the love will ignite again and the fandom will come back to life. :P I still love it to pieces, but right now I've been catching up on other things I've wanted to read and/or watch.

It definitely waxes and wanes! Last I heard, the one I had aimed to read was Namaste (http://archiveofourown.org/works/4883191) by @missazrael which just finished. Of course, anything by @tiggeryumyumm who’s got some canonverse WIPs right now. Just as a rec! OMG YES I TOTALLY AGREE. <3Nah, I feel that for sure!! I’ve recently gotten more into Jearmin, but I’m still SNK trash. >.>;;;

Love the idea! You could do two crowns somehow linked and possibly 'A kingdom, or this' along with it.

I think it's usually the week of New Years that manga and things take a break. So this week the new Haikyuu!! chapter would still probably be released?

No, I’m pretty sure it confirms HERE that the next issue is 1/4/2016. Chapters are submitted beforehand though so I’m pretty sure this chapter is leaked one week early... not sure how they got their hands on that though. (¬_¬)
