and now i'm going to speculate, theorize and generally ramble about jessica's memory problems and the differences in her memory between the entries and the comics

DISCLAIMER I wrote this post like last year thinking id get it done before the last issue. Oops

Anyways theres not like a real conclusion but I still wanted to post this so rejoice observations be upon ye

something i keep thinking about is the differences between what jessica experiences versus how she remembers it and especially what she remembers going from the youtube entries to the comics

when we last see her we can reasonably assume she remembers and knows the basics of her situation; who tim and jay are in relation to her, why she's taking medication, etc. more importantly she wants to see jay, under the impression that he's still alive.

[entry 87: "(jessica) how is he?" "-hoping i'd get to meet him since you said he goes here too but-"]

in the comics, however, most of that appears to reset but we can potentially chalk this up to wanting to put all that in the past as a coping mechanism

jessica has little to no memory of her experience during the series

[comic issue three- taylor: "you made these videos when you were younger. do you recognize anyone else in them?" jessica: "no."]

(in two instances we also see tim's name at the bottom of her contact list but it remains unclear whether she remembers him as well

[Comic issue panel- a contact labeled "Tim" just barely visible from the bottom of the phone screen. ]

when she finally sees jay again there's a degree of separation, she only recognizes him from watching him in the entries

[comic issue three- jessica: "you're... jay? from those videos?"]

which btw just completely breaks my heart dude she KNEW him she wanted to see him again not even knowing he was dead and when she finally DOES see him there's no connection bc her memory of him was taken awaY FUCK THE OPERATOR ALL MY HOMIES HATE THE OPERATOR

..anyways that brings up when/why jessica suddenly doesn't remember, but i think the answer(s) can be found in issue two

[issue two- a panel of jessica's MRI, where a slice of her brain is obscured by a long stretch of visual glitching.]

this could be from any of her previous encounters with the operator (including the one directly before this) but it does also make me wonder if operator sickness can eat away at your memories over time.

[issue two- panels of jessica realizing with horror that the operator has appeared in her apartment followed by a coughing fit where she loses consciousness, eyes turning black.]

It's also possible that this specific moment took away more of her memory before she had a chance to watch the tapes from the hard drive

Do you guys think Jemilla and Shwoopsie got divorced? Nobody seems to have any qualms about polyamory in Firebringer, so Jemilla also being married to Zazzalil shouldn't be a problem. I'm only wondering if a marriage can be saved after your wife suggests cannibalizing you.
