Jk and Tae meet pre-debut. Jk is the one who caught Tae’s eye first.
Tae says in multiple interviews he first noticed Jk.
In the same interview, Tae mentioned how shy Jk was when they first met him.

Jk confirmed he used to be shy and very introverted, and couldn’t even shower in front of the other members. Tae helped Jk feel more comfortable, and got him out of his shell.

Below image shows how close Tae and Jk were from the start, and how they bonded from the beginning. Tae never expected Jk to use honorifics with him. They bonded right away as same age, close friends.
Another example that makes it clear how close they were. Jk went to America to practice dancing before BTS made their debut. While in the States, he bought Tae a shirt.
Again, another example showing how Tae helped Jk break out of his shell. Jk was uncomfortable doing aegyo and sought Tae out for comfort after. It’s clear Tae was a source of comfort to jk.
