The muffled voices downstairs grew louder, and I could hear Marlon laughing. Randy was clearly sharing his theories with everyone.
“Wait, what girl?" Jackie’s voice rang from the bottom of the stairs. I pressed my back against the bedroom door, my face hot with embarrassment. If I went downstairs, they would never let me hear the end of it, so I did the only thing I could: stay where I was. I ignored the knocks, Marlon calling my name, and eventually, the footsteps faded away. Still, the damage was done. Over the next two days, the Jackson house became unbearable. Word spread among the siblings. Every time I entered the kitchen, Jermaine would smirk. Tito would nudge my shoulder at rehearsals and ask why I was lost in thought. Janet kept shooting me knowing suspicious looks across the dinner table. They didn't know for sure it was Y/N Randy; they only knew I had seen a girl, but I felt like the walls were closing in. More than the teasing, though, was the burning realization I had later that night: I had left my shirt at Y/N's house. After panicking and kissing her, I walked out without it. For forty-eight hours, sleep eluded me. My mind replayed the porch, her gentle look, and the terrifying fear that I’d ruined our friendship. By the third evening, I couldn't stand the confinement or my brother’s whispers anymore. I needed to know where I stood with her. I slipped out the back door while Jackie and Marlon argued over the TV, sprinting down the sidewalk into the cool evening air. I stopped at a payphone two blocks from her house, heart pounding as I dropped a coin and dialed her number.
(Y/N POV)
I had left his shirt on the couch, in the same place he left it for two days. Every time I walked past, the memory would come back to me, clear as day. The shirt still smells like the sweet cologne. The silence in my home was unbearable until it was broken.
RING RING….. RING RING-
I practically leaped towards the phone.
“Hello?”
I thought it was Janet. I was about to hang up until I heard.
“Please don’t hang up, this is Michael.”
I pulled the telephone back to my ear.
“I thought I needed to see you again, properly.” “I also need my shirt back.”
I was thinking for a second.
“Okay… I’ll see you later.”
I was trying my hardest to sound unfazed.

This just seems like an excuse to dismiss the many grievances that often rejected men give, saying that it's their fault. Look...no one is obligated to date anyone they don't want to. I'm not disputing that. No one owes anyone anything, romantically speaking. But to trivialize the embarrassment and disappointment of someone's unrequited love by telling them they must deserve it because only a creep is turned down is just not necessarily true. Sure, there are plenty of weirdos who need to be turned down, but there are also regular people who start off as friends and the man wanted to work up the courage to ask her out. Please don't demonize some guys for being shy and needing a little time to build up courage. You are always welcome to decline if you're not feeling it too, obviously...but please don't think this situation is black and white.
Can you make a fic where you and the Jackson family are at a party and once you all go back home Michael becomes a little too confident and starts working on you, and one last thing while in his room everybody can hear you guys and they point it out?

I stood in front of my closet, trying to find something to wear that made me look fabulous without looking like I was trying too hard. Shifting through years of clothes, I kept seeing things I always told myself I’ll wear that at some point, even when that “point” never came. I glanced at a nice navy blue dress, picked it off the hook, and tried it on, but it didn't fit like it used to—it was a little too tight around my hips. A quick sigh escaped me as I dropped it back on the rack. This process repeated itself for what felt like an eternity until I finally found the perfect dress: a maroon strap dress with a high slit. I changed into it, and it hugged my figure in all the right places. Glancing at the clock, I realized how late it was and hurried to finish up, brushing out my hair and grabbing the right heels to match.
Moments later, my foot stepped out onto the sizzling daytime pavement, and I shut the gate behind me. I hopped into the front seat of my Chevrolet and turned on the radio to see what was playing. To my surprise, the smooth, infectious groove of Michael’s new Off The Wall album filled the car. I mean… I wasn’t gonna complain.
The final words of “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” were just fading out when I arrived at the house thirty minutes later. I stepped out onto the concrete, striding forward toward the front entrance. Just as I raised my hand to knock, the door swung open.
“Hey, how are you?” a voice came through before I could even see who answered. I glanced up.
“Oh, hi, Janet! I’m doing well.”
She shifted out of the way, gesturing for me to come in, and wrapped me in a tight hug. I stood still for a moment in surprise before wrapping my arms around her back. Behind her, I could see the rest of the family putting the final touches on their outfits. I backed up from the hug to go greet everyone.
“Nice to see you again,” Jackie and Jermaine said in unison.
“Nice to see you too!” I replied, jumping slightly from pure excitement. Then, my eyes found Michael. “Hey there! I missed you.”
He stepped forward and hugged me, a quick, warm embrace before he backed up.
“I missed you too.”
I smiled, turning around to face the others, but caught him in my peripheral vision biting his bottom lip as his eyes lingered on me. I thought nothing of it at the moment and went to say hi to the rest of the family.
Before we left, the heat of the day caught up to me. I grabbed a glass from the cupboard to sip some water because I felt entirely dehydrated; my lips were so dry I had to keep licking them every couple of seconds. Leaning against the kitchen counter, I tilted the cup back and finished the water in one long go.
When I set the glass down, I didn't realize Michael had walked up. I jumped back slightly in surprise, placing a hand over my chest.
Michael started to giggle lightly at my reaction. When his laughter slowed down, his gaze softened, tracing the line of my dress. “You look real nice today.”
My hand dropped to my side. “You really think so?”
He took a slow step forward, closing the distance. “I really think so.”
The remaining gap between us started shrinking with every second that passed. The kitchen suddenly felt incredibly warm, and my heart began to hammer against my ribs. I grinned, looking up into his eyes, but just as the air grew heavy, Latoya stepped into the room.
Michael smoothly stepped to the side, acting casual as he stared at Latoya, though she didn’t even notice the tension she had just interrupted.
“C'mon, let’s go before we’re late,” Latoya said, completely oblivious, linking her arm with mine and leading me out to the car full of people.
I ended up in the back seat with the girls, laughing and catching up on life, until they completely stunned me.
“Oh yeah, we also got you a gift since your 21st is coming up,” Janet said, leaning forward. Rebbie and Latoya nodded, smiling brightly at me, which caused a chain reaction until I was beaming too.
“So what is it?” I asked, trying to hold onto my patience while shifting my legs excitedly.
“Well… we got you a necklace.” Rebbie pulled a small jewelry box from the space between her and Latoya and handed it over.
I took it gracefully. Opening it, I found a gorgeous, thin sterling silver Cuban chain catching the faint streetlights. I opened my mouth, thanking them entirely too much, and immediately asked for help putting it on. Once the clasp clicked, I adjusted it against my collarbone. “How do I look?”
Before the girls could answer, Tito turned around from the front seat. “I think you look great.”
“Thank you, Tito, you do too.”
Tito looked me up and down with an appreciative nod before turning back around. Beside him, Jermaine let out a chuckle, while Michael, sitting on the other side, shot Tito a strangely intense, protective gaze.
The car stopped a short while later. Marlon exited first, holding the door open as the crisp night air and the buzzing energy of Hollywood flooded into the vehicle.
"Alright, we're here! Let's make an entrance," Jackie called out from the front, adjusting his collar in the rearview mirror.
One by one, the family started filing out of the crowded vehicle. As I slid across the seat to exit, Michael quickly stepped ahead of Tito and Jermaine, extending his hand to help me down. His grip was warm and steady, lingering just a second longer than necessary as my heels hit the pavement.
He glanced down, his eyes tracing the line of my maroon dress up to the new silver chain resting against my skin. A faint, knowing smile played on his lips.
"It suits you," he murmured, his voice low enough just for me to hear over the distant city sounds. "The necklace. And the dress."
Before I could answer, Jermaine nudged Michael’s shoulder from behind with a teasing grin.
"Move it along, Mike, you're blocking the door." Michael cleared his throat, stepping back with a slight flush creeping up his cheeks, but his eyes stayed locked on mine for another beat.
The venue ahead was glowing with neon lights, the bass from the speakers inside vibrating right through the soles of my shoes. It was the perfect 1979 nightlife scene—vibrant, loud, and full of energy. Latoya hooked her arm back through mine, pulling me into step beside her as the group headed toward the entrance. She leaned in and whispered, "Get ready, because tonight is going to be unforgettable."
As we walked up the steps, I glanced back over my shoulder. Michael was walking just a few paces behind, talking with Marlon, but the moment our eyes met, he gave me a quiet, heart-stopping wink. The tension from the kitchen was definitely still there, and the night had only just begun.
From the outside, the place looked dull and small, but inside it was a totally different world—huge, colorful, filled with flashing lights, tables of food, and a massive dance floor right in the middle. I followed the family toward the seating area, but our group was too big for one table, so some of us split off. I ended up sitting at a smaller table, sandwiched right between Rebbie and Michael.
A few minutes later, Rebbie excused herself to go grab some food, leaving the two of us alone in the loud, throbbing room. As the opening notes of “Get on the Floor” began to blast through the speakers, Michael’s attention instantly snapped from the crowd over to me.
“Do you wanna dance with me?” he asked.
I nodded, and he took my hand once again, guiding me smoothly through the thick crowd toward the middle of the room. People actually moved out of the way for him until we were right in the center of the floor. The music took over, and he started throwing out random, playful choreography that made me burst out laughing. I tried to copy his movements, but I couldn't even come close.
Smiling, he stepped closer, interlocking one of his hands with mine while placing his other hand firmly on my waist. He possessed that unforgettable, dazzling showman smile as he began to move me around. He kept us at a perfect, rhythmic tempo that matched the speed of the song, leaning down to murmur the lyrics loud enough for only me to hear.
“You know, your new album is really good,” I complimented, looking up at him.
He turned his head away, grinning broadly.
“I mean it,” I insisted. His cheeks turned a deep pink, but he kept his eyes averted, suddenly shy despite how beautifully he was moving on the floor. When the song finished, we headed back to our table, where Rebbie had returned and was playfully chuckling at us.
As the night wore on, I stole a few of Rebbie’s chips until she finally noticed and lightly zapped my arm. Eventually, I got up to mingle, spotting a few recognizable faces in the crowd. I caught up with a friend, who quickly guided me over to a new circle of people to introduce me. "This is Alex," she said, and a guy waved at me. We struck up a conversation, trading introductions. Mid-sentence, I felt eyes on me and turned around quickly, catching Marlon staring from across the room before he abruptly looked away.
By the time I made it back to our table, I checked my wrist. The short hand on my watch was pointing at the one. It was getting incredibly late, and my eyelids felt heavy, but I managed to keep them open. Suddenly needing to wash my face and use the restroom, I excused myself and walked toward the back of the venue.
After washing my hands, I stepped out of the musty bathroom hallway. Exhaustion clouded my memory, and I mixed up the corridors on my way back. Instead of the main lobby, I stumbled into a quiet, dimly lit lounge room containing a plush couch. It was empty. Telling myself I would rest just for a single second, I let myself sink into the cushions. But the moment my head hit the armrest, my heavy eyelids closed, and I drifted straight off into a deep sleep.
I woke up to someone gently tapping my shoulder. Blinking against the dim light, I sat up quickly, fixing my hair and smoothing down my wrinkled dress. Embarrassed that I had passed out, I didn't even look up to see who had awoken me; I just mumbled a quick thanks and hurried back out to the main room.
Back at the table, Randy shot me a smirk. “Where were you?”
“Uh... I guess I fell asleep on a random couch,” I admitted, flushing. He grinned before turning back around.
A moment later, Katherine announced to the group, “We’re leaving in fifteen minutes.”
I sat back down, taking a deep sip of water and staring off into the distance, completely dazed. I must have gotten lost in my own thoughts for longer than I realized, because the next thing I knew, someone was nudging me, telling me it was time to go.
I stood up too fast. Completely unbalanced from the lingering sleep, the room tilted, and I almost went crashing over.
Before I could fall, a strong hand caught me firmly by the waist. I spun around, my heart doing a violent flip as my back pressed flat against a solid chest.
It was Michael. His hands stayed locked on my waist, stabilizing me against him. The shy, blushing boy from the dance floor was entirely gone; his eyes had darkened, turning intense and heavily focused straight on my lips.
"Careful there," he murmured. His voice was a low, smooth purr that sent a sharp shiver straight down my spine. "Don't go falling on me just yet."
Before I could even process the heat rushing up to my face, Latoya appeared out of nowhere, grabbing my arm and steering me toward the exit.
The ride home was a quiet blur of pure exhaustion. In the back seat, the girls fell asleep against each other’s shoulders, the loud, bustling energy from earlier completely dissolving into the quiet, dark Hollywood night. But every single time I glanced up into the rearview mirror, Michael’s eyes were already there, waiting for mine through the darkness.
When the car finally pulled up to the Jackson estate, everyone practically dragged themselves out of the vehicle.
"Goodnight, y'all," Jackie mumbled, yawning heavily as the family immediately scattered toward their respective bedrooms, completely drained.
I stood alone in the dimly lit hallway, unbuckling my uncomfortable heels and preparing to slip into the guest room, when a warm hand gently caught my wrist. I looked up.
Michael was standing there. The top few buttons of his shirt were completely undone, and he looked incredibly relaxed—and incredibly confident.
"Come here for a second," he whispered. He didn't wait for an answer, gently pulling me down the corridor and into his bedroom, quietly clicking the door shut behind us.
The sudden privacy of his room made my nerves spike, the silence thick between us. The sudden privacy of his room made my nerves spike, the silence thick between us. "Michael, it's late, I should probably go to sleep—"
"Shh," he interrupted softly, taking a slow, deliberate step into my personal space. The hesitant, giggling Michael from earlier was entirely gone.
He didn't say anything else right away. Instead, he just looked down at me, his dark eyes locked onto mine with an intensity that made my breath hitch. The silence in the room stretched out, heavy and filled with anticipation. Slowly, deliberately, he raised his hand. His fingers brushed against the sterling silver Cuban chain around my neck, the cool metal contrasting with the warmth of his knuckles grazing the sensitive skin of my collarbone.
My heart hammered against my ribs as he traced the chain to the center, gently lifting it a fraction of an inch before letting it drop back against my skin. His hand didn't retreat; his thumb smoothed over my collarbone, sending a sharp shiver down my spine.
"I didn't get to finish what I wanted to say earlier," he whispered, his voice dropping an octave, low and smooth.
"And what was that?" I asked, my voice barely audible over the sound of my own racing pulse.
Michael took the final step closing the distance, his chest almost brushing against mine. His other hand came up, his palm resting flat against the small of my back, the warmth of it seeping through the maroon fabric of my dress. He leaned down slightly, his face just inches from mine, his eyes scanning my face before settling on my lips. He paused there for a heartbeat, letting the tension stretch until the air felt thick enough to cut with a knife.
"You looked beautiful tonight," he murmured.
The warmth of his breath fanned across my skin, and before I could even draw another breath, he finally closed the remaining gap. His lips met mine.
The kiss started soft, a gentle, lingering test of boundaries, but as a quiet sigh escaped him, the restraint broke. The kiss quickly grew deep and demanding. He shifted his hands smoothly, pulling me firmly against his hip to eliminate any space left between us, while his other hand cupped my jawline, his thumb tracing my cheekbone. The sheer warmth of him sent a rush of electricity straight through me.
He separated his lips from mine for a fraction of a second, his breath hot against my mouth. “Since when did you look so good?”
I grinned up at him, breathless and dizzy from the proximity. “Well, y’know… time.”
A low chuckle vibrated deep in his chest. Keeping his eyes locked on mine, he slowly guided me backward toward his bed. He leaned back, slouching comfortably up against the headboard, and pulled me along with him until I was sitting directly on his lap. My hands instinctively came up, cupping the sides of his face, my fingers tangling in the soft curls at the back of his neck.
His hand slid down from my waist, moving deliberately to the bottom of my thigh, his grip firm and warm through the maroon fabric of my dress. He tilted his head, eliminating the last bit of air between us, and his lips pressed up against mine once more.
This time, the kiss was entirely consuming. It was slow, heavy, and full of the pent-up frustration of a whole night spent pretending we were just friends in front of a crowded room. Every time I thought he was going to pull away, his grip on my thigh tightened slightly, pulling me deeper into him, making me forget about the time, the family down the hall, and everything else outside of this room.
In the heavy, quiet dark of the house, our breathing grew louder, broken only by the soft, breathless sounds escaping us as the heat in the room spiked. Underneath my legs, I could feel the unmistakable, growing hardness in his pants, pressing firmly against me with every shift of his hips. We both thought about continuing until a loud bang disrupted the moment.
“Mike, maybe quiet down, some of us are trying to sleep.” I could tell who it was by the sound of his voice, Randy.
“Go back to your room.” I heard someone else’s footsteps coming.
“Michael, we all know that necklace looks nice.” I couldn’t make out the voice this time.
“Leave,” Michael said, exaggerating the e. The next second I hear them walking away. I bury my head into his shoulders.
“We should stop,” I said.
“Why? You feel so good,” I giggle, moving towards him continuing what we were doing before.
~~~ the next morning ~~~
I fell asleep on his arm with my hand on top of his chest. I sat up to the smell of bacon, accidentally waking him up.
“I should go now,” I told him. He rubs his eyes, rising to sit up.
“What?” “You should stay, to eat breakfast.”
“Alright, if you say so,” I stand up, smoothing my hair down. I grasp the door handle, lightly swinging it open. I find my way towards the kitchen table where Latoya and Janet are laughing. Katherine looks up at me and back down before smiling to herself. I grab a plate sitting near the end of the table where I get suspicious stares from the boys. I take some bacon for myself. Michael comes down entering the kitchen where all eyes go on him.
“Michael I couldn’t sleep all night ‘cause if you,” Randy pointed out.
“Yeah, Mike, the walls aren't that thick, I had to sleep on the couch,” said Marlon.
Michael ignored them. He was going to grab some bacon but when lifting his hand his other hand squeezed my thigh. He looks at me in a certain way giving me that same heat-filled “wink” from last night.
