okay like I've been really going at this whole research literacy thing, but like for real, it is so incredibly fucked up to misrepresent scientific data to further an ideology. not everyone needs to be or should be an expert in how to read a research paper, but if you're not, then you should not be interpreting data and spreading this around. it so fucking unethical to read a study title and decide you both a) know what the research found and b) are now informed enough to talk about it. and this goes for everyone on every damn side of a debate, any debate. lying doesn't make you right, it makes you a liar. lack of research literacy and complete ignorance doesn't make you right, it makes you uninformed.
