The Flu makes us feel all sorts of icky, so make sure to get things that will help you feel better!
A few items to remember are:
☆ Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen to help with fevers and owie aches
☆ Make sure to have a thermometer to take your temperature, you don't want to let a fever get too high
☆ Tissues to blow your nose, I suggest getting ones that have lotion or something to help prevent irritated skin
☆ Saline nose drips or spray, this will help keep your nasal passages moist and help prevent irritation.
☆ Simple foods (bread for toast, crackers, and apple sauce) and fluids (tea, water, juice, and broth)

It's important to drink lots and lots of fluids when you have the flu. Don't worry so much about food, just make sure to get some salt and sugar into your body. A good way to do that is to drink broth and some juice. If you only want water, make sure to eat some crackers! You'll be able to eat more when you feel better.

Over the Counter Cough/Flu Medicine
If your cough is getting too rough to handle, you can take some over the counter cough syrup or flu medicine to help you feel better. Be careful while taking it and make sure to follow the instructions exactly! It might be easier to let your caregiver or someone you trust give it to you instead.

Make sure to call a doctor if:
☆ You have a high fever (102° and over) that won't calm down with Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen. If you get a fever that reaches 104° contact a doctor immediately.
☆ You get a fever after you seem to have gotten better, this might mean you have something other than the flu.
☆ You have trouble breathing or severe pain of any kind.
☆ Anything seems highly strange or unusual to you. Trust your institution, no one knows your body better than you.
