Dark, mysterious eyes laid upon the young lad. A figure standing tall and intimidating in front of him, making Andrew tremble with fear. The misty air and cloudy night didn't help much of the current situation. The howling of the wind, the tree branches creaking, everything left the poor boy on edge.
The creature was so tall and gloomy, towering over Andrew. His horns, his eyes, his hair, his tongue… his wings were all shades of red.
“Wh-what..?”
Between chattering teeth Andrew started to speak, taking a step back from the creature.
Ever since he started having weird nightmares, hallucinations followed by actual objects and monsters interfering in his life, he was always paranoid. He didn't know what triggered all of this. Whether if it was a video he watched, or his stupidity of touching a cursed object. Either way, he was scared, and having this.. thing stand right in front of him, left poor Andrew frozen. He was stuck and didn't know how to react or what to say, and for all he knows if he made the wrong move, he could be dead in a second.
“What are you?”
Only a laugh was heard from the demon. His eyes squeezing as it cackled, his wings sort of flapping by its sides when its body moved.
“Answer m-”
“Isn't it clear, little boy?”
A booming voice finally escaped from the creatures mouth, his sharp teeth showing whenever he spoke.
“By my horns.. my wings, it's very clear that I am a demon.”
Right. Of course the demon had to be a smart-ass.
Andrew only stood there, his mouth no longer moving as he had nothing else to say. The wind blew, moving the boy’s bangs away from his face and out of his eyes. His gaze was glossy. Even if the sky was dim and everything seemed to only be in shades of grey, there was certainly still light to show Andrew’s features, and for anyone, especially a demon close enough to him, could see the slight shimmer of tears forming in Andrew’s eyes.
“Aw, don’t be afraid, I’m not going to hurt you....”
An eerie smirk was placed on the demon's face, a low chuckle escaping out of its throat. His claws seemed to curl, his hands moving somewhat impatiently as if it’s waiting to pounce and rip apart a human's chest. It only made the poor boy shake even more.
“Why are you here?”
Andrew asked, his voice trembling and his eyebrows furrowing more.
“I’ve been keeping an eye on you, Andrew.”
“What..?”
“Every move you made, all the places you went to, every conversation you had with your friends, family… partner,” A pause was settled in, the branches on trees creaking when the wind blew again. This time, the gust of wind was stronger. Almost like it was happening on purpose to add more creepiness, “Andrew, I know everything about you.”
The curly haired boy bit his lip, holding in a whimper from all of the fear that was building in his chest and gut. God, this was making things worse for Andrew.
“Also, you never asked for my name. How rude, you know?”
Andrew just kept quiet, his hands turning into fists.
“The name’s Jared, but friends down below call me Tomato-” The demon stepped closer, only making the boy step back again. “Don’t question why.”
“I.. don’t understand why you’re here though.”
“Because why not?”
Jared shrugged, his wings folding behind his back for a brief second.
“You don’t know how boring Hell can be, okay? Maybe I need to interact with humans for a bit.”
Andrew rose an eyebrow, his head tilting, “and why me? Why were you eyeing me?”
There was a pause. Jared stared down at Andrew, inhaling and exhaling deeply.
He could tell it was getting annoyed by all of the questioning. The others red eyebrows furrowing as it frowned and tried getting closer to Andrew.
Andrew managed to slip away from the demons approach, but soon was caught against a tree. He was cornered. The creature hovered above the boy, his wings keeping him tucked against the tree and himself. There was no leaving now. He’s a goner, and escaping isn’t an option anymore.
“Enough questioning.”
Slender, long fingers reached and curled against Andrew’s frame, the demon’s claws indenting into his skin as it grabbed the boy and kept it in its hold. Fear settled in once again, his eyes widening and his body shaking. A smile was stuck on the demons lips, the look on its face only making Andrew want to scream. He flailed his arms a bit, trying to get the tight grip from the demon off of him.
He just wants to leave already. He doesn’t want to deal with this. Everything’s so fucking messed up that it’s making Andrew want to throw up.
“I think your time’s up, kiddo.”
Andrew gasped, pupils dilating. He was starting to weep, his eyes irritated and wet from his tears. This was happening too fast. He’s not ready to go, no.
“No! Oh God, no! Fuckin’ let me go!”
Jared chuckled again, his eyes glowing more with a bright, bloody red.
“Yeah… nah, sorry.”
With a tighter squeeze and Jared’s claws digging into skin, breaking through that first layer and straight into organs, there was a sharp scream from Andrew and the sound of bones breaking; a loud crack, and then silence. The leaves blowing with the wind on trees softened and left the scene quiet and in complete darkness. The clouds rolled over the moon, the sight of Andrew limp and lifeless in the arms of the demon as he’s left in the night’s darkness.
The body was placed onto the ground, blood leaking out from the sides of Andrew’s torso, starting to cover some of the grass.
