In Edge of a Revolution, Dooku joined the Jedi to go back to Coruscant, that's great! So now what happens? Do they go to the Senate or do they confront the Sith?
“I would advice you against this kind of actions, young Skywalker.” Yan Dooku, sat on the Council chair that usually belonged to Obi-Wan, but the ginger haired male had offered it to him out of respect for the elders. And in all honesty, they way he looked, serene and powerful, it seemed as if he truly belonged there.
“But we need all the help we can get against the Sith Lord, I am sure the Chancellor would gladly aid us. After all, he wants the end of the war too.”
Dooku folded one leg over the other, rested his elbows on his thighs and interlaced his fingers in front of his face. “I can absolutely assure you that the Chancellor would not help us, in our quest.” He raised an eyebrow, silently daring and challenging the blonde to continue his protest.
“And how can you be so sure?” Anakin truly walked right into the trap and Obi-Wan barely kept himself from sighing. If they allowed his former Padawan to challenge his Grandmaster like this, they would sit here for the rest of the day. A hand came to rest on his shoulders and startled, did he look up into knowing and slightly amused eyes.
Obi-Wan had taken to sit on the floor next to his own chair. This way, he would be able to keep an eye on Dooku and interfere, if things got too heated, either on a verbal level or physical. Also, he had no desire to stand in the middle of the room for hours and since the Padawans were so slow in bringing a couple of more chairs, he had chosen this seat.
“The answer to that is quite easy, young Skywalker,” Dooku continued, completely unfazed by the dangerous looks the young Jedi Knight was sending his way.
Silently, Obi-Wan wondered, why none of the other members of the Council were taken the initiative. Were they truly this scared of the Count?
“Your ‘dear’ Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, is in fact Darth Sidious.”
“What?” all eyes were suddenly on Obi-Wan, who cleared his throat after his surprised outburst. “Are you sure? I mean… shouldn’t we have felt his darkness.”
“Not if he hides his whole Force presence.”
“Of course,” without noticing, Obi-Wan had moved from his sitting position into a kneeling position.
“What are you talking about? Obi-Wan, you cannot possibly believe what he says, Dooku is a Sith Lord.”
Obi-Wan calmly looked over his former student. “Anakin, think of it. Why is the Chancellor the only person in the whole Senate, who has no presence in the Force?”
The blonde shrugged. “I don’t know. Perhaps he had no connection to the Force.”
“No,” it was Mace Windu who protested. “Every being is connected to the Force, through medichlorians. And even if a person only possessed one or two, he would have a Force presence,” his dark eyes connected with Obi-Wan’s blue-green ones and the friends exchanged a whole conversation through that single look.
“I suggest,” the ginger haired Jedi Master got to his feet finally and took his place in the middle of the round Chamber. He sent a warning glance towards his former Padawan, who looked as if he would protest and voice his disbelief any minute now. “We stay calm. We cannot rush towards the Chancellor’s office, without knowing about his abilities AND without any evidence.”
“I agree with Obi-Wan,” Depa took the word. “We need to be discreet and very careful, this is a delicate matter.”
“I can’t believe that you all side with him. We have NO evidence except a Sith’s word, how can you trust him?” Anakin was furious.
“Anakin, I know that you are angry and confuse, I am too. And we know that you and the Chancellor are very close,” behind Obi-Wan’s back, several Council members exchanged looks, “but we need you to stay calm. Nothing of this, can be made public, do you understand?”
The blonde did not answer, his hard gaze traveled between Obi-Wan, Dooku and the rest of the Council. “I cannot promise anything… this is wrong, this is treachery!”
“I am sorry Anakin,” before the young Knight could ask after the apology, Temple guards appeared out of nowhere and took him into custody.
“Knight Skywalker, this is truly the last thing we want. But you have to understand, why we are so careful,” Mace Windu said.
“Of course we will investigate in the matter,” Plo Koon spoke up for the first time. “And if Count Dooku’s claim will turn out to be wrong, we will immediately take actions. Until then, we need to keep this a secret.”
“So you keep saying,” Anakin replied bitterly. He made no protest as the Temple guards took his lightsaber and handed it to Obi-Wan, who looked sadly at it.
The ginger haired Master quickly caught himself and turned back towards Yoda and Mace. “Well, we should discuss what to do.”
“Right, Master Kenobi is. Suggestions anyone has?”
Meanwhile Dooku observed his Grandpadawan, making mental notes about him and silently comparing him to Qui-Gon.
