Protag for Paragon, Sidney Morgan/ Sullivan.
For years she didn’t really have a proper identity, I just liked the idea of a girl with Pyrokinesis who I dubbed ‘Fire Girl.’ And after re-reading Stephen King’s Firestarter, I was inspired to use her in an actual story, inspired by the book!

Coal is Sidney’s handler from a secret government branch posing as the High School Janitor to watch over her and make sure she doesn’t burn people, whilst still trying to give her a normal teenage life. Inspired by Wolverine from the X-Men!
This is another reason why I wanted to make Paragon. As much as I love Chuck (which is why I have Adam Baldwin there as one of my protags) whenever there was a weird misfit outcast in High School whose life suddenly turned into a crazy adventure, it was a guy. The girl was only there as the love interest or the love interests ‘unattractive’ best friend. That’s why I love the show Buffy and what got me into Whedon, woman protags were the heroes who - even though they had a love interest, could still handle themselves on their own. And they never were feminists about it, they were never passive aggressive with anyone about their gender, they just did what heroes do. And that’s why I have Sidney - okay she’s not kick ass yet, but early days people!
I hope with the rest of my stories - which have many strong women/ protags, I can inspire others just like Whedon inspired me!
