POV !!!
POV — something that’s already happened, retold from another character’s perspective
Sid wakes up alone, with the nagging feeling that he wasn’t supposed to be. He lies there in the dark, waking up and trying to remember.
Geno.
Geno’s here. Geno came when Sid asked him to.
There’s a low murmur of sound coming from the living room. Someone talking. Sid slides carefully out of bed, and pads to the end of the hall, where it opens to the living room.
Geno’s there, stretched out on the sofa, talking quietly on the phone. His long legs don’t really fit and his feet are hanging off the side. And he looks so strangely right. He shouldn’t, he used to be a figure that was part of the glitzy world of the casino where Sid worked. Geno’s usual backdrop was hotel suites worth thousands of dollars and luxurious million-thread-count sheets and the sparkle of expensive tumblers of alcohol.
But. He looks at home here, in a plain white t-shirt and soft sleep pants. Stretched out on Sid’s worn furniture, speaking soft, gentle Russian into his phone. Sid catches the word, “Mama,” and smiles, chest aching with relief and happiness at Geno being here, mixed with the ever-present fear for Avery.
He’s still facing a nightmare, but he’s not alone. Not anymore.
