Domkraft: Flood (2018)
Not too many people will know (or even care), but Domkraft’s third long-player, Flood, signaled the birth of a new independent label called Blues Funeral, run by Jadd Schickler, who was the architect behind the long-defunct, dearly missed stoner rock powerhouse, Meteor City.
And not a moment too soon, since weed-fueled heavy music, preferably pressed on colorful vinyl, needs all the help it can get to stay relevant in this era of streaming services, ones and zeroes instead of heart and soul.
As for Domkraft, they hail from Stockholm, Sweden, consist of vocalist/bassist Martin Wegeland, guitaristMartin Widholm, and drummer Anders Dahlgren, and they deal in thunderous riffs, incessant screaming (the good kind of incessant screaming), and swirling psychedelics.
To wit, a few lysergic melodies are all the quarter given at the onset of “Landslide,” at which point Domkraft start to drone and grind, dealing leviathan barre chords for almost ten minutes of deliberate doom, capped by echoing screams, and a space-metal theremin trip.
Next up, “The Watchers,” while shorter, grooves even heavier, and the title cut bounces like comets across the Solar System, leading into an interlude cryptically called “They Appear to be Alive” with roots in the works of Italian overlords UFOmammut.
“Sandwalker” actually evokes a sense of trudging through wet sludge, and the standout “Octopus” wraps you in its tentacles before dousing you in black ink wah-wah; then it’s into a final, hypnotizing epic named “Dead Eyes, Red Skies,” draped in bluesy licks.
All of which makes Flood a well-chosen name for Domkraft’s special brand of stoner doom, and a promising start for the Blues Funeral imprint, to boot.
More Droning, Sludgy Stoner Doom: Acrimony’s Tumuli Shroomaroom, Belzebong’s Sonic Scapes & Weedy Grooves, Black Capricorn’s Born Under the Capricorn, Dead Meadow’s Dead Meadow, Electric Wizard’s Come My Fanatics …, Elephant Tree’s Elephant Tree, Kyuss’ Blues for the Red Sun, Los Natas’ Ciudad de Braham, Monster Magnet’s Spine of God, Sons of Otis’ SpaceJumboFudge, Spaceslug’s Lemanis, Toner Low’s Toner Low, UFOmammut’s Snailking, The Wandering Midget’s From the Meadows of Opium Dreams, Warhorse’s As Heaven Turns to Ash.

Lion Rock, Sigiriya, Matale District, Sri Lanka
Sigiriya or Sinhagiri (Lion Rock Sinhala: සීගිරිය, pronounced see-gi-ri-yə) is an ancient rock fortress located in the northern Matale District near the town of Dambulla in the Central Province, Sri Lanka🇱🇰. And it is referred by locals as the Eighth Wonder of the world. The name refers to a site of historical and archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock which formed from magma of an extinct volcano, nearly 200 metres (660 ft) high and 370 meters above the sea level. The surrounding landscape – lily-pad-covered moats, water gardens and cave shrines – only add to Sigiriya's rock-star appeal. 📸 awesome captured by @jordhammond ✅ Direct Massage /Email- [email protected] for Tour Arrangement #srilanka #sigirya #srilankadaily #srilankatravel #visitsrilanka #srilankadiaries #exploresrilanka #aroundtheworld #travellerphotography #roamtheplanet #picoftheday #wanderlust #travelblogger #instatravel #instapitcure #passportready #passportstamp #dronepictures #takenbydrones #dronephotography #naturelover #anicent #history #paradise #asia #wonderofasia #exploretheworld #exploremore (at Sigiriya Rock) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_pdCqrlukB/?igshid=8b67rmshyl51

Lions rock itself and what a wonder! The view from the top is absolutely breathtaking... I sat in that spot for a very long time and took everything in. Scented warm breeze feeling extra sweet after a steep climb. A kaleidoscope of butterflies whirled around our heads in the walk down too. 🦋
