🌱 Silans, what do you want to be when you grow up? c:
"dadda! sssssss!"
> You sit at your desk, tapping your foot with a rhythmic clinking. You have a piece of metal on your shoe tapping against a bit of scrap metal that, in turn, clanks against an old engine. You can’t put on music- It’s just too distracting, you wind up dancing, singing, humming along, or just listening rather than...Working. But you can’t stand silence either. Ironic since it sounds like your name! Silence. Silans. Y’know.
> Anyway. It’s a dark night; Heavy clouds have been looming overhead all night, and you’ve been expecting it to start pouring any minute now for the last hour. It’s often storming here, and honestly you feel most at peace in the middle of a raging thunderstorm. Speaking of, lighting flickers on the horizon, and after several long seconds thunder rumbles after it. You suppose that’s the storm you’ve been waiting for.
> You only look up, though, when someone knocks on your door.
“One minute.”
> You get up, your tail bumping some piece of scrap metal and sending it clattering down the heap- Your work area is 85% piles of metal and junk with little paths weaving through it. You’d run upstairs to put on your contacts, but you don’t want whoever it is to be caught in that storm, so you pull your goggles down and throw on your jacket before answering the door.

> It’s a very dark, and stormy night.
> Less than an hour ago, it was not, a very dark and stormy night. It was a rather pleasant night, if a bit chilly and overcast, but the moon and starlight filtered through the thin cloud cover and provided plenty of light.
> Then foreboding clouds rolled in and brought with them pouring rain, freezing cold and pelting like hail despite being only water. Then, in the shelterless, rolling moors, came the rumble of distant thunder.
> Storms out here could be deadly, for those frequent lightning strikes.
> Silans worked away on some project or another in his hive, foot tapping rhythmically as he pored over the inner workings of the mechanical piece. Rain lashed the windows, washed violently over the lake in windswept waves, while his lusus slept undisturbed beneath the water and Silans worked unperturbed by the vicious weather.
> His hive was the only shelter for miles around, nestled in a sort of crater in the moorland on the shore of a small lake. It was only visible from the crater ridge, but warm light glowed from the windows, giving some sign as the thunder rumbled closer and lightning flickered back and forth in the clouds above.

Silans rounded a corner, and nearly ran head-first into Lloric.
"Oh- Uh... Hi." The words were barely out of Silans' mouth when Lloric turned on his heel, and walked away in the direction he'd come from. He was wearing an apron and clean button-down- Silans wondered if he were working food service or something now.
It was hard to imagine Lloric working any kind of customer service, with his temper.
His eye looked bad, too, infected still even after several perigees.
Silans jogged slightly to catch up with Lloric, necklaces jingling. He saw Lloric's ears pin back as he was obviously away of Silans following him.
"Happy new sweep, by the way. Uh,"
Silans waited hopefully for some remotely cordial response, and got nothing as Lloric continued to walk.
"Look, um. Do you want me to fix up your eye? I fixed Whistler's, so it's kinda only fair--"
"Stop following me." Lloric barked, without stopping nor turning to face Silans.
"Man, I'm just trying to help you out." Silans sped up a little to walk at Lloric's side, and Lloric stopped to face him, lifting his lip in the beginnings of a snarl.
"I don't want your fucking charity."
"Yeah, whatever, call it that if you want." Silans waved a hand dismissively, trying to rein in his own temper. "I said it's only fair. Whistler's got two eyes now, you've got one and no medical care to boot."
"Yeah, rub it in, why don't you." Growled Lloric, and Silans inhaled sharply through his nose.
"GOD, I'm trying to help you, you stubborn bastard! Goddamn, you've always been like this." Silans lifted his hands in frustration, as though resisting the urge to shake Lloric by the shoulders. "For once, just let me--"
"I don't fucking want anything from you, 'Champion'. Go fuck yourself with those fat stacks of cash they give you." Snarled Lloric, who turned on his heel again to storm off down the street.
Silans was stunned into silence for a brief moment as the gears clunked in his head, as he was only left to assume that Lloric had always been so hostile towards him due to some perceived difference in 'rank' and pay.
"Is that really-- I'm going to break into your fucking hive and shove a cybernetic in your eye socket while you're asleep just to spite you!" Silans yelled after him, pointing an accusatory finger, only to be ignored. He growled in frustration and turned around to find another route that didn't involve following Lloric further.
I just want to squish Silan's cheeks <3
"I dunno why people like doing this so much."
Silans may I have a hug? You seem like you'd give the BEST hugs!
"Yeah, sure! Why not?"
Lloric stood in front of the heavy metal door, the final barrier between him and his opponent in the cage.
He took a deep breath, and rolled his shoulders. This was the final fight of the night, and the crowd was drunk and riled up from the fights leading up to it. He heard the announcer giving his cue:
“And now, the Electrocutioner’s opponent...”
Lloric sought his wolf form, letting it partially take over, bones shifting and thick fur erupting from his bare back. He let out a blood-curdling scream; Part of his ‘entrance’, and it wasn’t entirely voluntarily.
Moving like an animal came more naturally, now. He slammed through the door, staggering and snarling- He didn’t hear the announcer yelling his stage name. Two bouncers on either side grabbed him, forcing a muzzle on him- He fought, but not too much, didn’t want to draw it out- While the crowd jeered and threw trash, balled-up bet receipts and paper cups at him.
He stepped forward, up into the cage, and the door was closed and locked behind him. In the other corner, grinning and hopping from foot to foot, was his opponent; The Electrocutioner, AKA Silans Caukal. A mutantblood with electrokinesis and plated, spiky prosthetics.
Lloric wasn’t meant to win. He’d be in serious trouble if he did. This was just for show.
Silans shot him a smirk, tilting his head and pulsing electricity through his hands with a loud buzzing crackle. Lloric retorted with a roar that left his vocal chords feeling stripped and raw.
“And...Start!” The referee cued, from a platform safely outside of the cage.
Lloric lunged first, lashing out like a beast- But his clawed hands were curled into fists, he moved both like a boxer and like an animal, unpredictable yet trained. That, and his sheer strength and fortitude, threw his fellow lowblood opponents off.
The fight went as planned. Lloric landed a few frenzied, powerful punches on Silans, and Silans landed just as many- But it was hard to tell when Lloric was faltering. His vicious, swaying movements were difficult to read for the crowd. But they could tell Silans had taken some blows and were rooting for him, the two of them were essentially neck-and-neck, it was anyone’s game.
Supposedly.
Lloric took his final lunge, throwing all of his weight and force into a wildly aimed punch- It landed on Silans’ chest, knocking him back against the cage. Silans grabbed his arm, he heard the buzz of electricity and then everything went white.
He distantly heard the bell. He could’ve gotten up, but he lay still, while someone grabbed his leg and dragged him out of the ring like a dead dog. The crowd screamed insults, cursing him for losing, they’d bet a lot of money on him--
Once beyond the metal door, away from the crowd, he kicked free of the bouncer’s grip and got up- Struggling a bit, he had been effectively tased after all. The bouncer gave him a nod and slipped away as he transformed back.
He leaned on the wall, and took a deep breath.
Time to collect his winnings and bounce. There was no point sticking around here.
> You sit at your workbench in the main part of your hive, tapping your foot lightly as you work. It’s pouring outside, it always is this time of the sweep, and out of the corner of your eye you see a distant flash and the faint rumble of thunder.
> The wind’s starting to pick up too, rattling against the windows. You’re used to it, and pay it no mind.
> Until you hear a knock at the door.
> You never get guests unless it’s a situation like this, and you don’t really mind it, for good reason. Your hive is the only thing around for miles; It’s all stretches of rolling, dry hills, with the occasional scrubby bush. Which means any trolls wandering around are a prime candidate for lightning strikes.
> You put out your cigarette and get up, looking over towards the door- Agh, but you need to put on your contacts first. So the troll outside is going to have to wait a minute. You hurry off to the bathroom to put in your contacts, and as you return to the door you throw on your jacket and open the door to see if the troll’s still hanging around.
