Silcoitus Update: New Side Gig = Less Hobby Time

I know I owe no one an explanation but I like being transparent. I've had the wonderful pleasure of being one of your many chefs in the Silco fandom, feeding you many fic meals since 2022. Since then, my writing has slowed down a lot, but I've always managed to come back. (I'm not going anywhere! Don't worry. You'll still see me RBing the shit out of Silco fanart and the like.)

I just wanted to let everybody know that I got an amazing (paid!) opportunity to work with some truly amazing people on a long-term (original!) project in 2026. It's one of those once-in-a-lifetime gigs and I'm already having so much fun with it. The team is phenomenal and I really want the entire project to succeed.

This does, of course, mean that something has to give. I still have my 9-5 day job so that means this new side gig will have to take time from my hobbies (writing, cosplay, music). It sucks that I can't do everything I want all the time but that's life.

I would of course love to squeeze in a chapter here or a one-shot there, but I don't want to make any promises I cannot keep.

Thanks for understanding and thanks for being such a wonderful community. I love the Silco Simps—just as much as I love Silco himself.

I've officially hit 100 works on AO3.

Not only that but 90 Silco/you fics. With there being 1,350 fics under that pairing as of this post, that means I've written 6.6666% of the total Silco/you fics.

Or, to put it simply:

I've written 1 in every 15 Silco/you fics.

Each AO3 result page maxes out at 20, for some additional context.

Pretty fucking pleased with myself.

Slowly but surely getting back into writing

I'm gonna be completely honest with y'all: the holidays sucked for me. The seasonal depression was at an all time high on top of post-election results dread, the complex grief of moving plans falling through, and not actually having a winter break except for two PTO days I took the week of Christmas. All that and my shift to cosplay for two cons (now done) means I have barely touched anyone's requests. I haven't touched either of my long fics. I struggle even to beta friends' fics. (I'm sorry!)

I've been agonizingly chipping away at a one-shot that came about from a silly conversation but it is a painstaking process. Usually, one-shots for me are a flurry of writing done in one sitting. Meanwhile, this has felt like pulling teeth. But it's getting done.

Thanks for your patience. Thanks for sending requests. I promise I read them and will do my best to fulfill them. I'm just not quite back to my old self yet.

Thanks y'all! What a wonderful milestone to achieve! I regret not being able to write a Silco one-shot for the occasion but I've been very very busy with my day job and my side gig.

Figured I could at least tell y'all what I've been doing for said side gig! Can't give specific details because of NDA but I've been working on a graphic novel! I'm doing the graphic design for the fictional companies within the novel, so the artists have references for the company branding! So that means logos, color palettes, font choices and other graphic stuff. It's honestly been such a dream to work on. And the team is really great; such talented, passionate people who are also very understanding about everyone's schedules and workloads. 🥰

I'll be sure to give more details when I'm able! But I'm hoping to get back to writing in the spring (summer at the latest).

Begging y'all to READ bios and pinned posts before sending anyone an Ask

If y'all can't behave, I'm turning off my asks entirely. The whole point of closing requests is so my inbox doesn't continue to get clogged up while I work on the backlog of requests.

Any requests I receive when both these things are prominently displayed in my bio and pinned will get deleted with zero guilt bc you can't follow instructions.

I get stressed when I feel like tons of people are asking me for things. Me closing requests is how I protect myself. Do not make me close my inbox entirely.

Gonna be super duper proud of myself if I manage to finish Sugar chapter 3 by the scheduled release date (March 27). Work has been absolute hell for me and sucked me dry, so writing 500 words over Wednesday and Thursday was a big accomplishment. (We'll ignore the fact that I might end up changing what I wrote anyway.)
