im always seeing people bitching and moaning about the silent realms in skyward sword and yes they are high stress but they also aren't very hard at all? I've done them all in 1 try, sometimes 2 when i needed to get a lay of the land before i went in... and i'm definitely not super good at video games in fact i would argue that i am bad at them

Prompt: Silent Realm

Revali hissed, scything blades from above nearly severing more than mere feathers as they grazed the tip of his wing. The sky overhead blared red and urgent, thrumming with the rapid pulse of a heartbeat and igniting a panic that half-choked Revali in a way that he hadn’t felt since the day he died.

If only the air itself held half as much life. Dull and listless, the non-existent wind stirred only reluctantly at Revali’s direction, its sluggish movement already the cause of more than one brush with… death? Would Revali die if that cloaked automaton finally sliced through his spirit with those blades, with his body still safely ensconced in the physical world?

Or would he become like Link—not dead exactly, but lacking the spark of life that gave the distinction any real meaning?

It was a mystery Revali hoped never to solve. Dropping beneath the blades’ reach, he glided downwards, grimly focused on the single, shimmering tear of light in the distance that was his goal. The intricate glass vessel he’d received to hold those tears jingled at his hip as he flew, less than half-filled with liquid light—a reminder, if one was needed, of why he had to press on.

Day 6: Fear/Horror

Just stress from the silent realm but still fear I guess.

"Master Link... if you don't complete this trial, the fate of the world as we know it will be doomed... yes, I know you're terrified, but you have to go, you're the hero!"

Song: Din's Silent Realm

When someone says 'Guardians', most may think of the ones from Breath of the Wild, which is understandable. But I wonder how many think of the Silent Realm Guardians because LORD HAVE MERCY! These things made me scared of the silent realms as a kid, specifically Din's with how my brother and I found out the hard way that the one that floats and carries scythes can go through walls. Pretty music for sure, but the guardians will teach you what anxiety is in this Skyward Sword for sure

The Walk through Hell: Five Times Over

Chapter 3: Sticks and Stones

Link's newest challenge- the Eldin Silent Realm- is a bit more challenging than the last two silent realms.

Link was pretty sure he knew what to expect now. He sighed heavily, opening his eyes and pushing himself to his feet. Silvery silence covered Eldin, cloaking it in the murkiness of the Silent Realm. He prayed this would be the last time he had to do something like this.

Dungeons, he could work through; giant monsters, he could kill those. The Silent Realms? By far the worst part of this entire ordeal.

"Master Link," Fi's voice echoed to him, though she was strangely… muffled, "You stand within Din's Silent Realm, the third trial. It will test the limits of your power." Link nodded slightly. It fit with the theme so far…

"To locate the last flame that will enhance your sword, you must first complete this final challenge and achieve spiritual growth once again." Relief swept through Link at the words 'final challenge'. This really was the last one after all.

His spirit vessel formed, and he held it gently, glancing down the string of beads. Fifteen dark beads. He could do this.

"Once your vessel is full, your spirit will grow and you will be entrusted with a new power by the goddess. Do you have any questions?"

"No," Link replied, taking a deep breath and readying himself. He was almost done… he just had to get through this, then he could find the flame, open the Gate of Time and-

Find Zelda.

He was ready.

"Understood, Master. I will await your return in the outside world."

Link nodded, then looked around. He needed to locate where the guardians nearby were. He assumed they would be different than the ones in Lanayru and Faron.

He caught glimpses of white and gold around him and up the face of the mountain, but never enough to tell what exactly the guardians looked like.

A few paces ahead of him, the first of Din's Tears shone, glimmering a deep, ruby red in the silver. Red… that would make them harder to find when the guardians were awake.

a few more paces behind the tear, what Link assumed was the head of a guardian was poking up out of the ground. Were the guardians buried? It… looked small enough, but he knew that he couldn't judge the size of the guardians based off of their masks alone.

He took a deep breath, gathering his courage. He was ready for this final test.

He sprinted forwards, ignoring the red light that filled the silent realm, ignoring the frantic pounding of his heart. He kept his eyes fixed on that red tear, fully expecting that guardian to rise from the ground and chase him-

It didn't move.

He snatched the tear, and silver quiet descended once more. He straightened, taking a deep breath and inspecting the guardian closer.

It was indeed buried, it's triangular mask of a face tilted up to face him, three hollow eyes staring into his. Littered around the guardian were several silvery sticks and rounded pebbles, glimmering innocently in the murky twilight of the realm.

Link narrowed his eyes slightly, looking around. There were more of the little sticks and stones scattered about, though they were clustered most tightly around the guardian. Were they… triggers of some sort?

He didn't have time to investigate further. Already, the first petal of his flower timer had wilted, and he had yet to locate another tear. He would just do his best to avoid the sticks.

He turned, carefully stepping away from the guardian. He glimpsed a red shimmer higher up on the mountain path, so began to make his way up towards it. He carefully stepped around several patches of sticks and pebbles, winding his way up. He rounded a bend, then froze.

There was a guardian crouching less than a foot away. It was about shoulder-height on him. It's body long and serpentine with six thick legs. A long, whip-like tail tipped in gold spines coiled around it's legs, and it's vaguely lizard-like mask had a pair of large horns framing it's three, hollow eyes.

The way the guardian was positioned reminded him strongly of a remlit readying to pounce. What unnerved him the most was that he'd had no warning. Usually, being this close to a guardian caused his heart to start pounding, but this time… nothing.

It seemed that this silent realm had two types of guardians.

He assumed that the guardian in front of him would be the one to chase him. Perhaps the buried ones were more ambush ones.

Or… perhaps this was the Master Guardian. He dearly hoped it wasn't. It looked much faster than any of the other guardians he'd seen before.

He carefully backed away from it, almost hugging the wall of the mountain pass as he continued up. He was close to the next tear, he just needed to keep going.

He stepped forwards, and felt the toe of his boot hit a small rock. He froze as it skittered across the ground, glimmering and flashing before vanishing with the sound of a water drop.

Red light descended, and the faint hissing scraping sound behind Link was enough to spur him into a full sprint forwards up the pass. His pulse thundered in his ears, and he scrambled up the incline, rough stone edges biting into his palms through his gloves.

The light pattering of claws against stone was the only warning he got before something heavy slammed into his back, and everything exploded into white. Shattering pain rippled through his being, then faded as he collapsed back into the starting circle.

A deep ache slowly radiated out from his back, and he hunched over slightly, wincing before slowly pushing himself to his feet.

Well. He was right to avoid the rocks. They must be some sort of… waking stones or something. And, it seemed that that wasn't the Master Guardian, otherwise… he didn't want to think about that

He took another moment together himself before beginning his second attempt.
