So Homestuck is over, & now
I told myself I wasn’t going to do this, but I’ve been crying so much over how much this story has impacted my life & the amazing people I’ve been able to meet along the way through this journey of life, that I simply can’t resist.
I want to go back, waaaaaaaaaaay back, in my creepypasta days & thank the individuals who were telling me that I should get into Homestuck & that I would like it. The people who were debating, “Which troll would Music be?? Are they Terezi or Kanaya?” (HAHA W E L P THE ANSWER IS TEREZI B*TCHES). I want to thank you guys in particular because, if you had never told me about this wonderful comic, I would have joined the fandom much later than I did (even though it took a full year before I ever looked at the freakin’ website). Thank you for my exposure to the comic in general.
I want to thank @artfulimpersonator cosplayers @butterflyritsuka, @prismaticview, @silent-piper, & all of their friends to opening my eyes about the fun of just simply cosplaying your favorite characters (I can’t really afford to go to conventions & I had never made a cosplay before). The first video I ever saw by them was “A Day in the Life of DaveKat” (HAHA AND LOOK WHERE WE ARE NOW). I want to thank them for starting their channel, because if it hadn’t been for the basic foundation of their own fandom, I wouldn’t have been as fortunate as I currently am to meet all the incredible friends that I am close with to this day.
I want to give special shout-outs to @influentialartist & @theopalestopal. If it weren’t for the previous cosplay group mentioned (& by other means of social groups/interactions/etc.), I would have never met you guys. And I’m so glad I did!! The three of us have been an unstoppable trio of friendship. The three caballeros of gay shipping and sinning and roleplaying to our hearts content. You guys have been a great foundation of unconditional love & support, & for that, my love for the two of you has become infinite.
Another friendship shout-out to @silentlycrazy, whom I may have just met recently, but it feels like we’ve been friends for years. Thank you for being a true friend. I’m glad our gay love for Homestuck has allowed us to grow closer to each other.
I also want to give a shout-out & thank @madeline-actrice, who is an incredible voice actress that actually inspired me to start voicing my own favorite characters (& resulted in VA roleplaying almost every day/night with the previous friends mentioned). Now Maddy, if you’re reading this, I want you to pay attention cuz I’m only gonna say this once. *Ahem* Here goes-- YOU’RE A PRECIOUS CINNAMON ROLL ANGEL OH MY GOD YOU ARE WONDERFUL & BEAUTIFUL AND WOWIE SO TALENT MUCH TALENT YES OHMYGOD YOU ARE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN & AN AMAZING HUMAN BEING yes you indeedly are, BUT WOW YOU ARE JUST SO GREAT YOU ARE LIKE A PRETTY LIL PRINCESS 16/10 APPROVAL
I want to thank artists like @ikimaru & @toastyhat, who gladly accepted my commissions, as well as artists including but not limited to @paperseverywhere, @mcsiggy, & @affectionatetea. You are all incredibly talented beyond any measurable means, & regardless if you’ve been able to make canon art or have just stuck with fandom art, your gift has impacted the daily lives for those of us who have stuck with this fandom for so long.
I want to give a special shout-out to Chofi, formerly known as @my-friend-the-frog, who was chased out of tumblr due to the venom of criticism. Your art has impacted me as well as very dear & close friends of mine. We miss you, but we understand why we must let you go. Nobody should ever have to be bullied for creating something so beautiful. I wish I could have befriended you so that I could tell you how amazing you are. We’ll miss you.
I want to thank cosplayers @spectredeflector, @thepagejakeenglish, @spencerofspace, @sedirktive, & @sunflorae for allowing me to realize my unconditional love for cosplaying one of my favorite characters, Jake English. Even if most of you have moved on from Homestuck already, your hard work & effort that you put into your cosplays has inspired me to become a better cosplayer.
I want to thank fandom musicians @kyleehenke & @lunahorizon as well as many others for inspiring me to become a better singer. I’ve been a musician for 13 years, but I’ve never been able to sing. Thank you for pushing me as a musician, & thank you for serving as role-models to inspire me to become better.
A big, big thank you to @not-terezi-pyrope of the @beforusalbum project as well as @breadshift of @demonstuckvoices, who openly accepted me & my efforts as a musician enough to allow me to contribute to the fandom simply by doing what I love the most-- making music. Thank you so much for such incredible opportunities to work with you folks. I’ve had a lot of fun.
Shout-out to, probably the only irl friend I ever met due to Homestuck, @forestghouls. Between them being a Dirk cosplayer & me being a Jake cosplayer, the way we met was fucking unreal. Basically, we made a DirkJake coffee shop au come to life. That’s all there is to say. No description, nothing. We became a DirkJake coffee shop au that day. And thus-forth, our friendship grew into something so much more. From video-games to music to shows & animes, we share many loves & interests together, but we would’ve never met had it been for Homestuck, & I think that’s incredibly powerful.
Shout-out to every single Homestuck artist & musician & animator that has contributed to help create this webcomic that has forever changed my life. Your hard work & effort will never go unnoticed.
To the mutuals, fans, followers who are reading this now, thank you so much for sticking with me along this journey together. If you’re not a Homestuck fan, thank you for putting up with my Homestuck shenanigans. To the ones who follow me for the Homestuck... well... it’s been an incredibly journey, hasn’t it? The best part is that we all got to stick together through it. Maybe the true ending of Homestuck were the friends we made along the way.
And finally, thank you Andrew Hussie. For creating something that has allowed people to grow closer together as a unity. A fandom. For some of us, a home. I’ve been able to meet so many incredible people due to this comic. It’s become surreal to me that I’ve made it this far, that I went on this adventure & that I was never alone along the way. And although finally having closure to an official ending of the comic may have set me free, I will always, and forever be, Homestuck.
