Silk painting.

Silk painting consisted of placing an image of my own which I decided on an architectural dystopian building and then placing it on a light box. I then placed the cotton over the top and with the silk paint traced this. I chose gold as this links perfectly with my theme (sci-fi). This technique would be useful for adding texture as it is lifted of the cotton.

If I was to use this technique I would need to make sure to keep the silk paint all one level as I didn’t like the roughness of the overall look. However I think this is a great way of transferring an image that represents my theme from my sketchbook on to a garment or accessory.

I was finally brave enough to use a piece of silk that I painted in a Liz Heber (AUST) class years ago!

The piece was free drawn using different methods and tools, hence i didn’t think it quite “neat” enough to use as a standalone piece, even though I loved the colours and design of Eucalypts and Gumnuts.  An annual present swap with my art group, Reddy Arts always brings the opportunity…
