Silken Threads - Silk Resource & Production
Silken Threads allows your Sims to gather and raise silkworms in order to get Silk. This Silk can then be used in Flowing Fabrics to create luxurious fabric that can be used for tailoring.
From Worms to Silk; the overall gameplay loop To start creating silk, you need two things: mulberry leaves and young silkworms. You can harvest the leaves from the mulberry tree. The young silkworms do not necessarily need to be harvested if you have a mulberry tree on the lot and it is not winter. Both of these resources are used in the silkworm feeder tray.
Once the tray has mulberry leaves stocked and it detects the presence of mulberry trees/has young silkworms stocked, it will start producing mature silkworms. The mature silkworms can then be placed in a silkworm cocoon box. This will transform the mature silkworms into silkworm cocoons. The cocoons are then used in the silk boiler (requires fuel and water) and will give you a spool of silk. This spool of silk can then be used in Flowing Fabric’s stations to create silk fabric.
IMPORTANT: Silk has been added to Flowing Fabrics as of November 1, 2025. Any files from earlier than that date, will not allow you to use silk. Get an up-to-date version.
