so with lord of the mysteries finally releasing its second trailer all of the LOTM fans are coming out of the woodwork and twitter and FINALLY, by god, someone released a thread explaining the Pathways/Sequence system that i can just link and share with my homies who haven't started the novel yet

and as i'm talking with my friend on discord about this they're getting it but also NOT getting it because they don't have the context of the novel behind them and our discussion itself (or rather my 1-sided rant) is a good example of how and why LOTM is an amazing read and effortlessly rewired my brain while i was reading it

granted i admit it's been a time since i read the novel but that kind of thing stays with you man, i'm pretty sure it's made an indelible imprint on my soul somewhere hahaha

hopefully i wasn't tripping with half of my explanations tho

i think part of what makes sung hyunje so appealing to me as a character too is that he's so idk han yoojin coded like there is no way in any conceivable universe this guy will be interested in anything BUT hyj like i could isekai into s-classes world the next day and he'd treat me as air and yes!! king!! slay and ignore me!! (but don't literally slay i wanna live thanks) ahahahaha!! also i'd prolly be petrified from his S-class aura b/c no L-class fear resistance so RIP me

if im very very good maybe i'll see him in a cafe one day inviting (forcing) hyj to have snacks with him and that'd honestly be delightful, especially if they start bickering the next minute (well, one-sided bickering b/c SHJ will prolly just ^^ thru it all and that kills me too but like positively this is the type of death that ascends you)

reading old stuff you wrote and realizing “oh this was kinda good not the subpar slop i feared i was writing whew” is nice, actually

so in ep 11 of the double there's this guqin competition between the MC (xue fangfei/jiang li) and her sister (jiang ruoyao) and it gave me flashbacks to the time i wrote my own guqin/zither showdown into an original rofan novel set in (fictional) ancient china

that story (incomplete) is still on wattpad & scribblehub so out of curiosity i went back to check it out to see what i wrote. for one thing it was also a talent competition (no surprise, very common in cnovels set in ancient china featuring faceslapping)

and there was a bit of sabotage involved with the FL like, making sure the MC didn't have any nice instruments so she had to use her oldest practice one from home, also FL bumped into MC accidentally on purpose before MC’s turn so she cut her fingers and was playing with that for her turn and overall FL had to deal with peeps putting her down (including the empress dowager!) graciously with comebacks of her own

whereas jiang li beat jiang ruoyao with a song of a helpless woman lamenting her fate i had my MC beat the rival FL with a "war song" (the river runs red 满江红) over a "love song" （face like the peach blossoms 人面桃花）anyways this was a big deal because the country was weak from war and currently at peace so the empress dowager went “how dare you play this bloody war song!!” but MC was like “no no ur wrong” and she won

also this was transmigration so the MC and FL are just characters from the original novel but the actual main character is a random transmigrator in love with a very, very side character behind the scenes mastermind dude who was basically Xiao Heng/Duke Su

lololol so yeah I’m enjoying the double very much yes

now i wanna go back and think more on it someday... (too lazy to write tho honestly)
