Hello, Lord Maglor!
I recently did a poll relating to a writing project asking fans of The Silmarillion what they think your opinion of rap music would be, but now that I know that you have your own blog, I think it would be better to ask you directly: What are your thoughts on rap music?
On a different note, I know that I don’t speak for the entire human race, much less all the children of Eru, but you should know that at least one forgives you of your past deeds.
Thank you. I know not what else to say in the face of such profound kindness. Valar guide you, elf-friend, and although I may never find solace in the Undying Lands, I will find it in your forgiveness.
As for your question, I find rap music a rather… multifaceted median of art. I have no love for its discordant nature, and have certainly never felt the desire to preform one of the numerous modern dances it is coupled with. However, I do suppose that the lyrics of rap are altogether a diffrent story. Some are egotistical, true, or even… promiscuous, but others I find quite emotionally compelling. Prehaps these rap writers are more displaced poets than singers in an era that does not favor that aincient forms of art. Their music mirrors the nature of the lives of men; fiery, emotional, and fast. But whatever I think of them, they are artists. In that way, I can find kinship with them.
